I find that a cordless reciprocating saw with a wood blade is an adequate replacement for a chainsaw for light duty work (like Christmas trees) or indoors.

When the tree turns on, the Emperor talks from the Death Star and says "As you can see, my young apprentice, your friends have failed. Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battlestation. Fire at will, commander!" Nothing says Christmas to me now like the destruction of rebel capital ships.
