There's also the concept art picture.
They both look awful.

Maybe we should have a filter that replaces "begs the question" with, I don't know, "makes one wonder" or some such. It'd be nice if something could be done about it's and its while we're at it. And we coupld probably stand to get rid of the irony tag completely.

Also, I get this thing might be a "spoiler" for The Lizard's appearance, but can anyone tell me why it matters? I mean, as long as he doesn't look like a Gorn, that will probably be the least of the problems.

I judge movies based on the opinions of Internet shut-ins.

Is it appropriate to judge a movie by its PEZ dispenser? I'll just say that if I had paid slightly more attention to my promotional "Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence" PEZ dispenser, I would have saved myself some sleepless nights.

Sony released the emo trailer recently. It doesn't look good.

I remember when Episode 3 came out the first look we got at what happened to Anakin after the big fight was the "charred Anakin" action figure.

I submitted this headline knowing full well what "begs the question" means, but I figured if it was green-lit, it would be fun to see English majors fume.

Forget leaks. The official trailer they released makes it look like crap.

I'm not even a comic book guy but the Lizard looks like this

cdn.screenrant.com

I know it's out there but if only there were some method wherein they could make creatures that don't have to be guys in latex makeup...hmmm.

And why? Because Sony does not care. They are only making this movie to hang on to the film rights to Spider-Man. If they don't make a movie, the rights revert back to Marvel Studios (WHERE IT BELONGS) and Sony isn't ready to give up milking as much merchandising out of Spider-Man as they can.

Thus we get this flick that is going to be more Twilight than Spider-Man.

That's certainly true That doesn't mean they have to make a shiatty movie though. And it doesn't mean we have to sit through the whole origin story again (well, no one has to, this is a Redbox for me at best).

Why are people on the Internet so seemingly uninterested in this? Serious question. It doesn't carry the Raimi stink and details like Peter making his own costume make it look OK. You'd think only The Avengers and Dark Knight Rises would be the super hero movies of 2012.

Wut? The disaster that was Spider-man 3 wasn't as much down to Rami as meddling Sony studio exes telling Rami what he had to put in the movie.

People are more excited about The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises because they have good to excellent pedigrees behind them, whereas the Spider-man movie is another farking retelling of origin everyone knows movie. (

It matters for a few reason. One if the villain looks terrible it will take people out of the movie.

also, and this is my opinion, but the entire thing about the Lizard is he is a man who looses that humanity when he transforms. Hes nothing but an animal when hes the Lizard. viscous, dangerous and unhuman.

Now we don't know how the movie will play it, but giving him a human looking face seems to take that away.

At least thats my apprehension. Give him a more lizard like face in my opinion.

Well... I speak for the whole of the internet, We want to see Sony loose the rights and have it revert back to Marvel Studios.

It's the same reason Spidey rips his mask off for no reason in all the movies. He's an actor dammit and we paid him to act.

Plug Suit: Why are people on the Internet so seemingly uninterested in this?

Because Spider-Man 1 and 2 A) Weren't released that long ago in the scheme of things and B) Were pretty good.

And if the trailer is any indication, it looks like it's going to suck. Small things like they have a 28 year old actor playing a high school age Peter Parker. Problem: He looks 28. The concept art and leaks of the Lizard make the GG costume from Spidey 1 look fantastic by comparison.

Finally, and here's the biggy: It's ANOTHER farking origin film. Does the tale of how Peter Parker obtained his powers really need to be told again? No, it doesn't. But here we are.

I'm as big of a Spidey fan as you get, but the idea of watching teen-angst Peter go through the trials of being a nerd (again), get bit by the spider (again), adjust to his new powers (again), create his costume (again) for half of a movie does not appeal in the least.

So what you have is the exact same film as Spider-Man 1 from 10 years ago for the first half. And the second half being largely the same except you replace Mary Jane and the Green Goblin with Gwen Stacey and The Lizard.

But it's been 10 whole years, who can remember? I think a spider has his spider home world destroyed by gamma rays, turning him into a human/spider hybrid and he lands in the Amazon and raised by Amazon women who are fighting the Nazis who were developing a robot power suit that has a ring that shoots webs. And he's a vampire.

Could it be because there was nothing 10 years ago worth remembering?
