Athletic donation site at WSU supposedly crashed earlier today due to high volume of donations.

F*ck yeah, WSU is going to start acting like a BCS-caliber program!

Nice hire WSU. Don't fark it up like those idiots in Lubbock.

Goddamnit so much. I had a stupid hope that he'd get hired at UCLA. I want at the very least to have fun watching games. I just know we'll end up with farking Butch Jones who won this year with Brian Kelly's players and end up with another Neuheisel situation. Chris Petersen isn't coming here. Herm Edwards isn't coming here.

That, and I do not look forward to having to play a Mike Leach team every other year. The Pac-12 North has a chance to shape up as one of the strongest in the nation.

UCLA should be a great job, too. Play in the Rose Bowl, in a better area of LA to live, certainly can pay money, automatic huge rivalry game, etc.

Highlighted for relevance.

Our last 3 coaches have been Bob Toledo, Karl Dorrell and Neuheisel. This place does not have a real commitment to the football program. You can tell by the practice facilities (they blow). They just started renovating the Rose Bowl. Hell, they just started renovating Pauley Pavilion a year ago or so. This athletic department has thought for too long that they can coast on former glory and the university at large puts no pressure on them because UCLA is still the most applied to university in the country (maybe the world, can't remember) so they don't really give a shiat. They can still sell the "golden C" crap and crow about being first to 100 NCAA titles. They act like John Wooden and Terry Donahue retired two years ago.

They'll be fine. Sarkesian knows what he's doing. UCLA is in a race with Colorado to the bottom of the conference.

While I admire a lot of things about Leach, his cult really disturbs me. At least now he's tucked away somewhere obscure and irrelevant.

Leach only got in trouble because the James family are prima donna biatches and ESPN had an interest in making sure there weren't any threats to the Longhorn network in Texas.

Sure, I believe that last part right now. Because I'm obviously angry and not thinking clearly.

Or you are thinking clearly, I still dont understand the rationale behind the longhorn network, its not like they have people clamoring to see their games in every market, I think the local Comcast office has had about 25 requests to carry the network, out of a subscriber base of around 2 million.

This theory would probably make more sense if Leach wan't 2-8 against Texas.

Was/is Texas Tech even one of the top five choices for high-class Texas high school football recruits?

It was probably 4th or 5th. Something like Texas, OU, A&M, then Tech/OK St.

See my other posts above. I love Leach, and think he is a great coach. I also hate Craig James. I just think pulling Texas into this particular conspiracy theory is a bit silly.

Leach was 8-2 (I think) against A&M.

it's more like Craig James has a lot of powerful friends in Texas and got really really butthurt by Leach, coupled with Tech not wanting to pay Leach his bonus. I don't think LHN was a factor.

I know people think I'm a conspiracy theorist, but I think they and ESPn intended it to become a de facto Big XII Network run by Texas. They wanted more conference games and out-of-state high school games on the network, which would have put pressure on other Big XII fan bases to subscribe. Once in those markets, Texas/ESPN could then put pressure on the other schools to sign on to the network with the understanding that Texas would get the lion's share of the profits. I don't think they ever intended it to be limited to Texas.

The problem was that was changing, kids wanted to go to TT to be part of the flash of the new style offense, I was kidding about the conspiracy theory shiat, I just think Texas having their own network is stupid.

Mentat: . I don't think they ever intended it to be limited to Texas.

All the Texas fans I have met have an inflated ego of their school and of what other people think of them as well. Its a nice little school but outside of a little run in the 2000s what have they really done the past 20 or so year? I remember them not being a big deal back into the 80s even when people were trying to talk them up.

Also, f*ck ESPN for aiding in screwing over Leach and for firing the reporter that helped write Leach's biography.

As I said when the rumors were going around that WSU was hiring him - "it sucks that they'll be ignored by ESPN because of the new coach (and Craig James is a b*tch), but at least it's better than being ignored by ESPN because WSU sucks"

Or for the ones that don't like the urban life.

/both campuses are nice
//I prefer WSU
///didn't apply to either because I wanted somewhere inexpensive when I had my GI Bill

well now WSU will win or lose their games by like 52-49 and it will be fun to watch. TT under Leach was a lot of fun to watch. As has been said many times upthread he got screwed over by James, ESPN and his own school that he turned into a winner.

We sucked in the 80s and most of the 90s, but it has a huge fan base and cfb is fairly cyclical. Because of the enrollment and the (up until last couple years) fairly consistently strong performance throughout the modern BCS era they get a lot of attention. Plenty of other schools with large fan bases and a pretty abysmal record during the BCS era (A&M, Notre Dame, etc.) get lots of attention too. You'd be hard pressed to find a football team thats been good for a few decades in a row, especially back when national championship were even more retardedly decided than they are today.

That said, the Longhorn network was idiotic - not even Longhorns care enough to watch a channel that shows one or two crappy games and sports nobody cares about - but hey, if espn drove 300 million to your alma mater's door they would take it and be idiots not to.

The best ones recently where when people were whining that Texas's (unearned IMO) BCS ranking is because of the secret ESPN cabal - ignoring the fact that the ESPN/AP poll has no bearing on BCS rankings and the fact Texas is not ranked in that poll. Apparently Deloss and ESPN are hacking into the computer algorithms and boosting UT's Rank so that more people will subscribe to the Longhorn network and they can spend the money covering up the second gunman on the grassy knoll, the fake moon landing, and the 9/11 conspiracy that they are also behind...
