Pretty much. It's essentially free money where folks are concerned. What began with the Justification Machine became a money maker, and it's no coincidence that the candidates are all pushing books. And making a killing. Couple it with speaking fees and video presentations, and you see why so many folks keep throwing their hats in the ring. It's a nice way to pay folks back for doing their work, and not drawing the Elections folks down on their heads.

The feeding frenzy is starting to thin out the cash flow though, so you're going to see folks starting to look to thin the field down. You can see it with Gingrich already suggesting that Cain sit this one out now "for his family." It's not about the morality, it's about the cash. Plain and simple. What was the bailiwick of pet economists and political "theorists" now is a nice flow of cash to folks just because. A gift. And publishers love it, because they don't care who buys the damn things, or what they do with them after the sale--so they'll keep putting their names of their houses on books and keep the charade up.
