I suggest we all get behind someone else, say Curtis Painter?

But can he pick up a 7-10 split?

JerseyTim: But can he pick up a 7-10 split?

Only if it's the Lord's will. In which case, the Holy Roller will implement the will of the Lord.

I don't know, he's going to have trouble beating out MJD, Foster, Fred Jackson and Willis McGahee...

I vote for Peyton Manning.

Seriously, people really care about who goes to the Pro Bowl?

Here's the thing... who else is there in the AFC?

Peyton M-oh wait.

...Uh...Tom Brady and then...Roethlisburger and...Fitzpatrick? Nah. Dalton? If he wasn't injured I'd say Schaub...

You don't understand....he's religious. We've never had a religious football player (relentlessly thrown in our faces by the farking idiots at espn)before. Therefore he can't/must be a Pro-Bowler. And don't flame me, but some media people are saying he's actually not a very good quarterback.

2011-11-30 04:02:59 PM
Maybe Matt Moore for the lulz?

2011-11-30 04:04:33 PM
Tebow Christ this is just getting out of hand now.

Also, isn't the Pro Bowl voted by the fans? So it's basically a glorified popularity contest and not about skill anyway?

Joe Flacco? Phillip Rivers?

WhoIsWillo: Here's the thing... who else is there in the AFC?

The entire AFC South has a messed up QB situation, with Manning and Schaub both out, Garrard being cut and the rookie pulled, and Hasselbeck playing confusing ball. In the West, Campbell was doing well but is lost and his replacement isn't lighting it up, Rivers is underperforming, and KC is down to suiting up the grounds crew. Brady is Brady, but there's no QB in Miami, Sanchez is ass, and Fitzpatrick has regressed to the mean. Roethlisberger is there, but Flacco is going bsckwards, Dalton is an ok rookie but nothing remarkable, and McCoy wouldnt be recognized at his own birthday party. If there's a year for someone like Tebow to sneak in, it's this year.

2011-11-30 04:09:14 PM
I don't like Tebow. I think he is an AW, the media fellatio when he was in college was ridiculous, and I will admit that I am not comfortable with his particular brand of religion.

Having said that, I think the fact that Denver keeps winning is hilarious. I am certain that Elway goes home after every game and just screams "fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-" for 5 minutes straight.

I think they are a portion of the vote.

Flacco's bad play at the Jaguars and down numbers make me iffy on him. Rivers has thrown 17 interceptions and more are coming...

How many people watch the pro bowl? I've never seen it, I don't even know when it is. A game with two teams that have never played together who are mostly trying to not get injured doesn't really sound like entertaining football to me.

FTA: Pro Bowl selection is based on ballots cast by fans through Dec. 19 at NFL.com, and votes from players and coaches Dec. 21-22. Each group's results count one-third toward the players picked in both conferences.

So, yes?

I'm with you on voting for Painter. I think this should become a goal for the fark community, like when that baseball game got rickrolled. Imagine how pissed the NFL punditry will be if Painter comes in 1st....

2011-11-30 04:12:38 PM
Incidentally, assuming Tebow completes the season, by the time Pro Bowl voting ends, he will have started exactly as many games as Matt Schaub.

2011-11-30 04:13:34 PM
Number of AFC QBs I'd rather see in the Pro Bowl and clearly deserve it:

Tom Brady
Ben Roethlisberger

that's it.

And either one or both of them is going to miss the game because they're going to be playing deep into the playoffs.

You could make cases for maybe Palmer or Fitzpatrick or Dalton if the Broncos start tanking but even if you're a Tebow hater, he'd be an exhibition quarterback for an exhibition game. Perfect.

Broncos win the SB and Tebow gets MVP in his first try, you know Elway will go all Episode III Vader.

Even if you want to count him as an RB, he's got numbers nearly as good as McGahee and Jackson is done for the season so he doesn't matter.

Yes, his five games played, 9 turnovers and 6 TD passes and stellar sub-80 QB rating make him Pro Bowl worthy...

He played ten games, Tebow will have played ten games once voting ends. There's supposed to be a difference?

I don't give Jason Campbell credit, true. I'm probably still biased after my season having him on my fantasy team when he was handing off the ball or lobbing it 7 yards to nobody for the Redskins.

Fred Jackson will be injured and unable to play, so he's ineligible I believe.

Saw that. I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

You know if he gets selected for the Pro Bowl, I wouldn't put it past the AFC coach to start him at fullback.

Pratty: Fred Jackson will be injured and unable to play, so he's ineligible I believe.

Ok, from an able-to-play perspective, I don't disagree. But if the metric is performance, rather than availability, then there's no difference. And it's not like we take away the Pro Bowler designation from players who decline to play in the game, or get injured in the interim.

kronicfeld: He played ten games, Tebow will have played ten games once voting ends. There's supposed to be a difference?

One would be available to play, one wouldn't. Seems like a significant difference to me.

EyeballKid: I don't give Jason Campbell credit, true. I'm probably still biased after my season having him on my fantasy team when he was handing off the ball or lobbing it 7 yards to nobody for the Redskins.

I don't think he's that good either, but the Raiders were leading the division with him at QB. So Palmer is an even less impressive candidate if you think little of Campbell.

Oh, and for what it's worth, if Tebow finishes the season, he'll have played 11.5 games. (half of the SD game)

I have a dream that one year the entire pro-bowl roster for both sides just refuses to go. Then the 2nd wave of invites go out, and they refuse too. Then the third. Finally you get enough people who are confused about what it is to go, and it's the Stephen McGee-led NFC using their dazzling aerial assault against the stingy Mortty Ivy-led AFC squad.

PunchDrunkPanda: Who the fark cares? It's who the fans want to see. The Pro-Bowl lost it's credibility ages ago.

The Pro Bowl once had credibility? I was unaware of this.

2011-11-30 04:24:43 PM
My point, which I didn't really make, is that the Pro Bowl voting is stupid already, what with it starting a couple games into the season and ending with a couple games left to go. People are voting based on less than 3/4 of the season, and way less if they're making their picks when voting opens. When the voting ends, you don't know who might be injured AFTER the voting, so it's not quite fair to exclude someone who might have been injured late in the season, but not someone who is lucky enough to not tear their ACL until week 17. All among the many reasons that the Pro Bowl is retarded. You'd think the country's most popular and lucrative sport could find a way to make its all-star game better than the other pro sports' games, but it fails miserably.

Even if the rule is dumb or not, I'm pretty sure it's still the rule. If I'm even right about the rule in the first place.
