of course it's safer than alcohol.

Is it the paranoia, or the mellow? I've always wondered how I would drive while on weed.

I think it's more of the "fark it, let's not leave the house" effect.

Can anyone explain to me why the fark Marijuana is still illegal?

The study also found that medical- marijuana legalization is associated with a drop in beer sales.

Oh.. nevermind.

A little from column A, a little from column B.

So I've heard.

There should be a section (swath?) of OWS relating to this. What blatant corporate influence b.s.

and how do you patriotic citizens justify this 12% drop in morticians' business?

Weed > booze

I only drink when I can't get weed.

2011-11-30 01:36:31 PM
It's only a matter of time before it is legal.

I really have no interest in it. I barely drink alcohol either. But, like alcohol, they could tax the bejeezus out of this and generate a lot of tax revenue.

Know how to tell the difference between a drunk driver and a stoned one?

Drunk drivers run red lights.
Stoned drivers stop at green ones.

I don't get paranoia, so I think it has to do with the mellow. It also changes your sense of time passing, so I think it makes you "okay" with the fact that you're not rushing about as quickly.

Hah! The next time you see someone stopping at the light no matter what color it is, it's a pretty good guess that person is driving stoned.

It may make you drive too slow... I had a bad habit of stopping at green lights when I got stoned...

It's a light!... STOP!

Don't forget taking cash out of Gov't coffers from DUI arrests and possession charges.

Those truckloads of pepper spray aren't going to pay for themselves.

Or at least bring it into the legitimate economy so drug dealers no longer have what is effectively a blanket exemption from income tax and sales tax.

So true.

When I was in college, a buddy of mine absolutely hated driving with me because he is a leadfoot and I would drive like an 80 year old woman when high. On the interstate I would gradually and unknowingly slow down until I was going 25 miles under the speed limit. At intersections with no traffic control, or with a stop sign, I would stop and wait for the nonexistent signal to change. Ultimately he decided to stop yelling at me about it and would wait for me to come down from outer space. When I did, he would be seething.

He's kind of an uptight stoner, now that I think about it.

Anyone see the Discovery show Curiosity: Your Body on Drugs? The show took four drug users, a coke head, a meth head, a pot head and a junkie through a series of tests to see how each drug affected their ability to perform these certain tasks. The stoned guy was so harmless it was hilarious watching the writers come up with negative and harmful attributes for his performance and behavior. Spoiler alert: he drove very slowly.

It was pretty obvious marijuana was not nearly as dangerous as these other drugs with same or lower schedule.

Hahahaha me too man me too. Used to have to be the one making the 7-11 run. Exact same route every time (1 light and two intersections, but only 1 stop sign). Couldn't tell you how many times I either stopped at the intersection with no sign, stopped at a green, or waited for the actual STOP sign to turn green.

/I know, it's stupid to drive impaired either way
//I would rather have 10 stoned drivers than 1 drunk on the road though

FTFA: "We were pretty surprised that they went down," Rees said Tuesday.

Obviously, they've never tried to drive stoned. I have and found myself driving very slowly and carefully. As a friend of mine once said, "Pot is an old man's drug. It slows everything down."

A stoned driver is nowhere near the menace of a drunk driver.

Seems like an appropriate thread. Please contact your Representative and Lamar Smith about scheduling a hearing for HR 2306 currently in legislation, ending prohibition of marijuana. Lamar Smith, Chairperson of House Judiciary Committee is stonewalling bill.

It takes just a second, follow links through any pro compassionate care org or norml.

To legalize it means to tax it, but it's not really that simple. You can't just tax it at 40000% because the black market will still be cheaper, and in all likelihood, better. If I can buy a gram from 7/11 for $20 as opposed to going to a dealer and getting it for $10-15......it's possible I'd pay that much to avoid any hassle, but I'd still be on the fence.

This has to happen for some time though to eventually eliminate the black market dealers. Key word being "eventually". I'm guessing as soon as prohibition was over, the beer barons were still making a killing for a few years.

I saw another show about theweed that showed what happens to your body on it. I think the biggest biological things were that it makes your heart race and your blood pressure skyrocket.

Go take that noise to the Herman Cain thread.

Carl Sagan was a stoner. Actually, there are a number of people who outperform the rest of us stoned out of their gourds. I think there was an Olympic swimmer too, and what's his name that won the Tour de France. Maybe it should be scheduled as a performance-enhancing drug, because it doesn't seem to be impairing anything important.

That is, except when you try to take brownies out of the oven without a mitt.

Because you can't tax something that can grown as easily as dust bunnies. Only the stupidest of the stupidest would purchase it from a store.

We have a couple advantages now: 1) Technology and 2) Infrastructure that was created for cigarette taxation.

Or in Oregon. Portlanders ignore traffic signals. In the last year, a day not having to slam the brake pedal to the floor to avoid t-boning someone blasting through the intersection against the red, has been a day in Oklahoma.

Old joke:
Drunk drivers run stop signs.
High drivers wait for them to turn green.

I have chronic knee pain. Too many knee surgeries.

I've tried pot a few times. Makes the knee not hurt. Makes me feel happy. Makes me a criminal. Worst that's happened is ate my roommates Ramen.

When it gets unbearable I grab a drink. It does make it stop hurting. Worst that's happened: too many to list here.

I don't know if I agree with that. Sure, you could grow it on your own, but you need a fair amount of equipment to grow a good and consistent strain. Quality does factor in after a point.

...so I've heard.

Exactly. See also Garlic, Onions, Potatoes, Pumpkins, and about any herb/spice. on you can buy in the store. I NEVER buy them in the store because they just grow everywhere. Hell my back yard is full of chives. Wait. I have a 40 hour a week job and a family.
