Let me guess. Cadadega?

[reads article]

Yep. It's not really secretive, subs.

But this looks cool. Maybe I should go for my birthday. Get my fortune told, too.

I did a reading there after friends I trust told me amazing stories, it was pretty freaky, convinced me there is something to that psychic stuff. Also convinced me I should stay away from that kind of thing.

/no it was not the standard "cold reading" thing
//no I am not a gullible fool

I would like an order of Ph'nglui mglw'nafh. Easy on the wgah'nag and a side of fhtagn.

As long as the calamari doesn't start moving...

I presume it is constructed in the form of non-Euclidean architecture, with a smattering of cyclopean masonry and arranged in a fashion that reminds the onlooker of those paintings by Nicholas Roerich? Because if not then... ph'nglui!

They are secretive in the sense that they have a website and signs all over the place.

That is not bread, it's Easter pie. Yet with boiled oil even bread may fry.

Okay I'm not going to get into the personal stuff, or the stuff that could be just a lucky guess, but there was this one specific thing, and this was WELL before the days of the internet and searchable databases.

I have lived in Florida my entire life except for a brief period when I took a job up north. The reading took place two months after I had accepted that job offer. The reader knew what city I was moving too, and described the job in considerable detail, and that was out of the blue ... no hints no wrong guesses, just "You've lived in Florida your entire life but you are moving to ___ where you will be doing ____" The reader told me it was a good move for me to make, and it did turn out to be the best years of my life.

Do you order from the Necronominom?

2011-11-30 02:51:17 PM
If you like Poe, but thought he went a little easy on the psychoactive drugs, I assume you'd like Lovecraft.

I just downloaded bunches of his stuff, which seem to fall into a legal crack because they were published in magazines which did not bother to renew their copyright. Depends where you are when you download some of them, I think. Thanksgiving was 5 days of no internet, so I entertained myself the old fashioned way.

That means reading, for you male farkers out there.

and over strange aeons, even death may be lightly seared with herbs and served with a cream sauce.

Insmouth?

(reads TFA . . . )

Nope, bummer. Or perhaps that's a good thing. Never could quite get the hang of good/bad in relation to Lovecraft.

/The answer is, of course, that it won't really matter when the Great Old Ones eat you.

I went to Cassadaga many years ago. It was pretty neat little town, cute little cottages all through, and every one had a shingle hanging outside for variuos psychic services. (I didn't partake of any of that; I get my palm "red" fine by myself.)

The ex and I went to the town's "business district" and went to the town psychic grocery store for something to drink. On the way in we noticed that there was a missing child poster stuck to the screen door. In a town full of "psychics."

Did you see spims and mimsies and whorls and was the kid named Brautigan? There might have been low men lurking under the psychics noses.

Did you mean The Lovecraft bar in Portland, Oregon? There are some images of the goings on at The Lovecraft but here's a warning: they include pics of an artist who cut up her back with metal plates and wire wings then painted in her own blood on a canvas on an alter.

Huh. I just figured it was an artistic costume. A little over the top, a little cheesy, but you know, I liked the fake blood and the "angel in agony" shtick.

Shows what I know, I guess. :)
