This just in: cantankerous old man gets upset by plants. Shakes fist at clouds.

Nothing says nature like a nice coat of lacquer.

Is it really the city's job to weed vacant lots? Take your concerns to the property owners whose land you are trepassing on when your cutting across.

It looks like they're painting the street & sidewalks as well! Niiiiiiice.

This.

Not according to TFA.

"They even use cardboard to make sure they don't paint sidewalks or buildings, just weeds that shouldn't be there in the first place."

It never ceases to amaze me how uptight people get by when, where and how plants grow.

Well-manicured lawns are one of the stupidest things I've heard of. Why waste that much time, effort and money trying to keep nature from doing what it wants to do?

Seriously, I have better things to do than worry about that shiat. Like surfing on Fark.

I'd rather have the weeds.

PghThermal: well then somebody shopped that last photo.

You're right, didn't notice that. I have to say I've seen a hell of a lot worse left on roads and sidewalks by your average pet owner / litterbug / poorly maintained car / etc. than a tiny bit of spray paint that will wash / wear off in a matter of days or weeks, though.

I actually think the weeds look pretty. I hope they keep doing it!

Our city is horrible about taking care of the parks and 3-ft. tall weeds grow all over the place in some areas (like what used to be raised flower beds so they can't just mow over them). One year some neighbors got fed up and pulled all the weeds in the flower beds, planted some nice plants, and maintained them. It was beautiful. When they were caught though they were fined $500 for park vandalism. Now the weeds have overgrown and it is ugly again.

Many garden groups here have offered to volunteer for free in the parks planting and maintained flower beds, but apparently it is too much of a liability issue. It really is sad. Most of our parks aren't even grass anymore, just mowed over weeds.

I just love a pic that hyperlinks to a copy at exactly the same size.
