The guy chomping his gum distracted me.

Listening to people eat or chew gum with their mouths open, drives me up the wall.

/Pet peeve.

Only one of them didn't know what he was doing, the guy on the right got loose stomping the throttle too much. Still probably both douchebags though.

Guy(gal?) on the right lost it.

Still both idiots for street racing.

/Pet peeve.

Great, now on top of the dogs, cats, rodents, lizards, and kids, you have a peeve!

I'll bet the 'videographer' took great pleasure in playing it back for the cops... the looks on the vette drivers' faces when he announced that he had video must have been priceless.

2011-11-30 12:40:13 AM
God dammit.. Yet another douchebag who stops filming before we get to see the aftermath.. Fark you..

2011-11-30 12:40:14 AM
There's going to be happy happy insurance companies when they see that.

You must be new. There are dash mounted contraptions that do this hands free.

/video should have been 40 seconds shorter

That's right - kill the video before we see the damage/crying.

Ah, they're only late model Corvettes.
No big loss.

You guys clicked a Tru TV link?

Anyway, what did the D-list celebrities have to say about it?

2011-11-30 03:45:08 AM
Yeah I really don't understand the inclination to stop filming before following through with the aftermath.. the best part would be walking up to their cars and seeing the retards firsthand. Then next scene is the cops arriving and laughing their asses off.

a friend of mine had a vette back around 2003 or so that was a current model at the time..dunno what it was exactly... he said that he could spin the tires even at freeway speeds if he turned the traction controls off and wasn't careful on the pedal....my question is, why would you turn that off? is that kind of standard operating procedure for street races or is it like an honor thing or you can eek out a bit more speed than it would allow or what?

It's OK, I can confirm that it's a rare 'safe' trutv link.. it's just a break.com video embedded on their site.

In fact, skip the tru.tv site altogether: http://www.break.com/index/two-idiots-wreck-their-corvettes-on-thanks g iving-2236171

I have to agree with the earlier poster...if you're going to show the wreck, at least show us the aftermath of the wreckage, and two douchebags either crying or beating the crap out of each other. It's only decent.

The camera is clearly moving around as he turns the wheel, so either he's holding it or he stupidly attached it to the steering wheel. I could three morons in that video.

Wheelspin is gods way to telling you you don't know what you are doing.

Yes. If the ecu detects wheel spin, it cuts power. A little bit of wheel spin off the line is OK and if you have decent car control you're better off without it in most cars. There are some now that have launch control that you are better off with it on, so it really depends on the car these days.

I turn my traction control off as soon as I start the engine. I have a 4 wheel drive car so the stability control is a nanny that serves little purpose to me. I hope for wet roads so that I can get the excitement of going sideways a bit when I put the power down. Never where I could hurt anyone but myself, though.

This is where that German word schadenfreude applies.
I know it means I'm petty, but so be it.

2011-11-30 09:07:14 AM
Corvettes are trashy, cheaply made, awful vehicles... Especially the dinosaurs that were in that video.

Hi, Yes... I would like to over-pay for a reasonably large engine wrapped in a cheap plastic interior... Thanks

2011-11-30 09:11:07 AM
I'm shocked that it was the D-bag that had his brake lights on while waiting for the lights that lost control and hit the other douche. Still, nothing of worth was lost.

2011-11-30 09:14:58 AM
I usually won't click a TruTv link, but that was worth it.

2011-11-30 09:41:21 AM
People who race on the street, people who do tricks on motorcycles on the street and drunk drivers - basically people otherwise known as "statistics". I always get a sick thrill out of reading about them killing themselves in the commission of stupidity. It's unfortuante the morons so often hurt other people, though.

If you're going to race, go to a racetrack you stupid hicks.

Jammybee: I'm shocked that it was the D-bag that had his brake lights on while waiting for the lights that lost control and hit the other douche.

The guy with his brakes on almost certainly has an automatic so he had no choice. Keep it in gear with no brakes and you'll roll into the intersection. And if you want a launch start without extra equipment your only option is to hold the brakes down and rev it up to the RPM you want to launch at then let your foot off the brake pedal.

Which is one of the many, many reasons why people who buy performance cars with a slushbox are such incredible idiots. If I were king, anybody who tried to buy a sports car with an automatic would have to instead take delivery of a Morris Marina at whatever price the real car would have been.

lucksi: Ah, American cars. Built for going in a straight line and that's about it. The 10° bend was too much to handle

Are you aware that car makers didn't stop making cars in 1994? No, apparently you are not.

stealthd: There's going to be happy happy insurance companies when they see that.

This.

Someone should run their plates, find it out, and send it to boths.

I don't think insurance covers unlawful use of a vehicle resulting in damage.

The "racing" exclusion applies to sanctioned events. Unless a street race is considered a felony there is coverage for it no matter how stupid. There is no stupidity exclusion, otherwise nothing would be covered.

2011-11-30 10:13:21 AM
Nobody was hurt, they got their cars banged up, the cops will nail them for street racing, justice is served.

You must be newer. Most of us realize that something that is "dash-mounted" won't include the rear of the dash in the frame and won't move around during filming.

The feds should outlaw any engine bigger than a 4 cylinder, 1.6 liter non turbo.

thats a good move, you should've done it sooner. If the wife objects, tell her they'll be one more thing to replace for your birthday.

Yeah, because people never use their hands to adjust a dash mounted (or perhaps windshield mounted) camera. You think he could have held it that steady and had it bounce up and down with his car during acceleration?

Cmon guys, it's not a big deal but it's pretty obvious to me.

I've never seen a dash mounted cam bob and pan relative to the dash
