He told Hotsheet that he didn't have evidence to back up that suggestion, but that "that's my instinct, and my instinct often turns out to be right."

Cain said something very similar. It seems like the GOP hopefuls rarely have evidence. They just say shiat and expect that FoxNews will report it as fact, rather than fact-check. Unfortunately, they're right more often than not.

Dude, Obama already slammed you once. Do you really want some more of the grown ups?

"Candidates" like Trump and Cain, constantly using our entire political process as if it's a cash cow waiting to be milked rather than a somber and serious event dealing with the various fates and issues of our nation and its citizens, make me think that maybe elections would be better off if names were barred. You don't vote for a name, you vote for ideas. Candidates are assigned letters or numbers (Candidate A, Candidate 8023, Candidate pi, so on) and referred to as such throughout the entire process. Campaigning consists of listing your ideas and the evidence relating to those ideas, presented in a public meeting along with other campaign ideas, read by differing and rotating people randomly assigned to speak on behalf of the candidates. You are legally barred from mentioning your name, identifying yourself in any way, directly informing others that you are running, etc, and any violation results in immediate removal as a candidate. Yes, it's a completely buttfarked idea full of holes, but it sounds much better to me than our current system. I'm tired as hell of watching these assholes trounce into the national spotlight and garner millions in booksales and TV spots and speeches just because their face is plastered everywhere, even when they have nothing new, important, or beneficial to say or suggest. Let these attention whores try to strike it rich elsewhere, and leave the political process to people who actually want to serve their country.

This is bad news for republicans because according to a guy I know (back in May),"Trump is just doing this to make the right look bad. Check his track record."

The way he slunk off like a biatch after Obama totally clowned his horribly-toupeed ass made me think that this particular delusion of his was done, but I guess he'd want more. This could be truly epic.

Awesome. Now if we can just get Johnson to run as a libertarian the orgy of lulz will be complete.

That's probably closer to how voting went prior to the advent of TV than what we have now. I mean, how many people had this much exposure to any particular candidate in the 1800's?

Isn't there some clause in the Constitution that prevents a wannabe candidate from running twice in the same electoral season? If not, there should be.

See H Ross Perot, you can even dropout and return to the race a few weeks later, let alone months.

No, they're really going to need Trump. By next May, they'll have cycled through their whole list of front runners two or three more times, so if Trump doesn't step up they'll have to call in Alan Keyes. Really, there's only so much drool to go around.

Hm, Perot wasn't really in Trump's category. Perot had an ability to make and keep money, for starters.

I like Trump's idea. It shows clarity of thought and it's comical. We are rid of his crappy show and comedians get a gold mine of new material.

Did he release his financial records like he said he would if Obama released his Birth Certificate? No? Gosh, what a surprise.

He's not a serious candidate. Never was. He will never make the required financial disclosures, because his whole empire is built on the idea that Trump is some sort of financial wiz, and a thorough perusal of his financials would destroy that idea completely.

As a life long New Yorker I feel I must apologize for this.

Once in a while one of these idiots slips through the cracks of our smug, liberal, impenetrable fortress.

It happens. We will take care of it shortly.

Pay it no mind.

Carry on.

RyogaM: Did he release his financial records like he said he would if Obama released his Birth Certificate? No? Gosh, what a surprise.

Donald Trump Financial Records:
Step 1: Borrow a shiatload of money. Family, friends, investors, particularly stupid bankers, doesn't matter from who.
Step 2: Build something huge, gaudy, and with your name written on it, visible from space.
Step 3: Declare bankruptcy.

Repeat until you came make money off nothing other than your name. In other words, spend a lot of other peoples money to get the same effect Paris Hilton did with a night-vision camcorder and a by-the-hour hotel room.

IIRC he released something that claimed his net worth was 7B. 3B of that is "brand value", but the other $4B seems real enough.

So, is he talking a third party run, or does he somehow think he can enter the Republican nomination race and register (let alone compete) in the remaining primaries? 36 of the primary/caucuses will be over before he reconsiders running in May. (new window)

I mean it's obviously a publicity stunt, but if the media feels the need to report on it they should at least be reporting how it would be impossible for Trump to win on the first ballot.
