What does that have to do with anything, particularly an article about an aircraft carrier and/or Star Trek? Isn't there a whole Sports section in Fark where you can rip on your least favorite players?

Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: I believe it's in Alameda.

Is it? They had just started refurbing the Hornet as a museum when I transferred from there.

Little known fact, people who served on the carrier have developed cancers at a rate 335% higher than the general population.

The starship Enterprise is about the same size of an aircraft carrier in dry dock... someone should make a 1:1 replica. Make for one hell of an amusement park.

How much would it have gone through if it was a traditional oil burner?

That's only from the time travel incident that Franklin Roosevelt covered up

Saw Battle 360 series of the WWII USS Enterprise. The battles that ship went through and won are astounding, especially before 1943.

Unfortunately, her masts and sails are more for show and would 've been used to steady her in rough seas. She's a steam powered sloop of war. But still good looking !

While on a fishing boat going to port in San Diego, I once watched the Enterprise arrive. People on the boat first thought it was an island. Then the island started gaining on us.

I talked to a guy that was a nuke ET on the Enterprise, he said their nickname for it was "The Mobile Chernobyl". My obvious response was "What? Why?", and his answer was "It's the first nuclear ship ever, and it has eight reactors. Guess how many leak at any given time?"

Food for thought I guess...

I'm guessing you're a lesbian? Never thought much of T'Pol. Give me 7 or Torres or that Dabo girl that Quark's brother married. Oh, and Troy was very much hotter than Crusher.

It was the Kitty Hawk but she portrayed the Enterprise
in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

I still have fond memories of that girl I took to see the movie.

Nothing like driving I-64 and going under the Enterprise at the Hampton Roads tunnel, did that several times. Another great thing was the F-14's coming into Oceana from the carrier, low, slow, loud and rattled everything in the house. Gave me a great sense of pride for our Navy.

It's been a long road

Get'n from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near

I will see my dreams come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna change my mind

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
No one's going to bend nor break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

Oh for....

By the way that girl I took to see the movie. That was Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. The fond memory was of the girl, not the movie.

2011-11-29 06:26:07 PM
I've also heard her referenced as "Three-quarter mile island" before.

Regardless, Happy Birthday, Big-E!

asscorethethird: Not me, I'm wishing that someone sends it to the bottom of the ocean soon, along with all the other war machines.

Problem: the sort of things that work best at sinking war machines are, themselves, war machines.

Little known fact, 56% of all quoted stats are made up.

Also, 4/3 of the general population do not understand fractions.
