What I am saying is that the timing of his arrest is a bit suspect.

After all, according the report, the NYPD had been watching this guy for two years. I have a hard time thinking that there was not a single point in those 730 days that Pimentel didn't do something that could have led to his arrest. No, he was squeaky clean until three days after the Zuccotti Park raid. Then, suddenly, he was "one hour away" from finishing his homemade bomb and the arrest had to be made immediately.

*rolls eyes*

Yes. It's all a conspiracy.

The timing was that he was proceeding to the bomb assembly phase. I'm no Allen Einstein but arresting a suspect when he gets as close to executing a crime as possible but before he arms a bomb seems to have a bit of legal/logistical logic to it.

Alternately you can have arrested him:

A) when you are certain the bomb is armed
B) while he is detonating the bomb
C) after he has detonated the bomb

And speaking of conspiracies, that's one of the charges that Pimentel faces: Conspiracy.

Even though they insist that he was a "lone wolf", and had no co-conspirators, they are charging him with "conspiracy" which, by definition, requires that at least two persons are involved.

What next? Will they also call him a gang? A mob? An organization?

The whole Jose Pimentel case is retarded. You know your case is really crappy when they gave it to the Feds multiple times, and each time, the Feds came back and said that they aren't going to touch it because it looks like entrapment.

So, if there are peaceful protesters being arrested on trumped-up, even fraudulent charges, law enforcement should ignore real threats in order to seem like the good guys they have been shown as not.

In a world where "just found out" = "have known for 2+ years" this would have been a hoot.

Also, in 2011 it's impossible to use the word "hippies" without sounding like someone reading from a 35 year old copy of Mad Magazine.

I'd believe it is an act of diversion, sure. A conspiracy? Seems like a strong word. Politics can and does work like this.

This article makes that process seem unbelievable, devious and farfetched. Reading what I just read made me dumberer.

Hey now, when they arrest and beat down the press to keep them from reporting on what Bloomberg's jackbooted thugs are doing to people who are exercising their First Amendment rights, everything is bound to be on the up and up!

FTFA: "Bloomberg obviously chose the police state over free speech when he shut down OWS. "

If you think that Mayor Bloomberg "shutting down" this protest in particular is a serious argument in favor of America being a "police state," please pick one:

-I do not understand law enforcement

-I do not understand property rights

-I do not understand the legitimate use of force

-I do not understand the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States

-I do not understand human fallibility

-I do not understand anything except expressing outrage, particularly over the internet

This list is by no means exhaustive (in fact, if you find this list wanting, think up your own! Fun for the whole family.) However, If you seriously agree with the argument and conclusion of TFA, you will likely find that at least one (perhaps even several) of the above items is applicable to yourself.

This.

I'm not sure Bloomberg has the kind of intelligence it would take to pull off a clever misdirection, if this is his idea of "misdirection." Especially since this dork didn't have any connection to the OWS that anybody knows about.

Of course, if this is ANYBODY'S idea of misdirection, perhaps they need a dictionary and a lesson on "how to oppress the people."
