If you need outside observers and technical help, Canada was part of a team that oversaw the elections in the Ukraine. Florida can't be all that much worse and the weather is better in November so you wouldn't have problems getting volunteers.

/hard time, hard times

ALF actually holds up today much better than most other shows from it's time. A lot of the script writers would go on the write for The Simpsons amongst other shows, so there was definitely a lot of talent there. And yes, there was an article in National Enquirer about Max Wright smoking crack and have sex with homeless people. It's amusing to think it might be true, but it probably wasn't.
