Sooner or later She'll listen to Ralph Nader.

2011-11-29 01:15:48 PM
Yeah, she worked so hard this year to deserve a $300K car.

2011-11-29 01:50:40 PM
Another one?

I warn you, subby, where you are going has been occupied many times before.

Ten bucks says she ponied up the dough for the automatic version.

This just in; rich people buy expensive things.

i can't really begrudge her a cool car. at least it isn't coated in solid gold or something.

Maybe she'll wrap it around a telephone pole at about 150mph. There's always hope.....

Nope.. No farks in here to give...

Make it illegal to manufacture expensive cars. Problem solved.

2011-11-29 02:43:42 PM
For a 2012 Ferrari with a high-tech tuned suspension system that thing sure has some large wheel gaps. Almost looks as if that's not the correct diameter wheel/tire combo for that car.

/Got nuthin'

2011-11-29 02:45:26 PM
This is an outrage. Who was the dealer that betrayed the memory of Enzo Ferrari by letting Paris Hilton buy a California? You've soiled the name, fella. We've always associated the word "Ferrari" with performance, sophistication, and quality, but you've added washed-up whore, wonk eye, and Valtrex to my new imagery.
Heh.

let's look at it this way - the faster the car she buys, the more likely she will die in a high speed car crash, and the world can pretend to care.

croesius: Ten bucks says she ponied up the dough for the automatic version.

IIRC, they all come with a paddle shift actuated dual clutch manual. No third pedal, no lever to row.

I'm not sure if Ferrari makes something that doesn't have a gearbox like that nowadays.

Can't say I'm all worked up about a rich person buying expensive things like the author of TFA. So she bought a red Ferrari; hell, if I had that kind of money, I'd probably do it too. I've little doubt that there's things the author has purchased that others look at as stupid and extravagant.

Well, look on the bright side - maybe she'll get the thing up to speed on the freeway and try to occupy a bridge abutment.

2011-11-29 03:05:01 PM
Do you get the feeling that the 1% may try to sacrifice Paris Hiton to the 99%, as a gesture of appeasement? "Here, take out your frustrations on this."

frepnog: i can't really begrudge her a cool car. at least it isn't coated in solid gold or something.

Well, it's rosso corsa, the proper color for a Ferrari. I can't really hate her for it either. Now if she paints it pink or something then she can DIAF.

croesius: Ten bucks says she ponied up the dough for the automatic version.

I might too...F1 shifts far faster in paddle mode than I ever could.

That said, rich people be buying shiat. Should I be angry at this?

Uh... it's picking nits, but a Ferrari California only costs $300,000 if you buy it with a suitcase full of twenty dollar bills in the passenger seat. MSRP is $229,000.

And I don't think it's a 2012. I don't think they are out in the US yet.

That's not a California. It's a 599.

2011-11-29 04:00:59 PM
Since when is a California $300,000 ??

2011-11-29 04:01:31 PM
croesius: Ten bucks says she ponied up the dough for the automatic version.

Every Ferrari California has a double-clutch gearbox that can function in either full auto or "manual" via clutchless flappy-paddles behind the steering wheel. There's no way to get a traditional stick/clutch shift done...and to go full auto you just push a button.

Because you can't purchase a super car until it shows up on the dealers lot.

Harder to get away with cocaine on you when you're driving instead of sitting in the back of a limo. Bad move.

This article has to be written by someone who posts here. I haven't seen that much unmitigated hate towards someone they've never met since the last Tebow/Khardasian/Beiber/Rebecca Black/Michael Bay/*insert popular thing here* thread.

There's a lot of bitter anger on this site.

I'm gonna guess...she had money, and paid for it?

Nah, it's not that. It's that the Ferrari is going to go to waste with her behind the wheel. Just as an incredibly physically gifted athlete is pretty worthless without a good coach, a Ferrari is a total waste without a decent driver. It's just a shame to see such a beautiful machine pretty much go to waste. .

Heh, yellow is visually striking, but in my mind all Ferraris are red. There's a few allowances made here and there (1980s Testarossas can be white, the 456GT looked awesome in that dark bluish black, etc.), but to me a PROPER Ferrari is going to be red. I can deal with lime green/yellow/orange/etc. Lamborghinis, but not Ferraris.

I was talking about the car in the pic he posted, not the one she bought.

The pic posted has side by side exhaust. The California has over-under exhaust.
