Sounds like typical police shooting skill demonstration. Sad.

Hero tag for ineffective shooting and no casualties?

At least there was a happy ending.

And that's why "suicide by cop" is less effective than downing NyQuil.

From her dash-cam video you could hear the violent exchange, from the second officer's video, you could actually see it.

That video shows a male officer getting out of his car and shouting, "Put the gun down," and then diving to avoid a hail of gunfire.

The video shows a puff of dust rise after a bullet strikes the ground no more than 10 feet from him.

Both officers were OK after the incident.

D-

See me after class, and bring your editor.

FTA: "Police said they believe the gunman was shooting to kill."

The police were unable to find evidence to support this claim.

This was just taken from one of the officer's lockers with the words "My Hero" underneath.

Watch this video of the sound of gunfire! Then watch this other video of a police officer tripping and falling behind a bush before shooting at something off camera!

I was expecting a much better video than that.

To crush your enemy, to see him driven before you, to hear the framentations of his women.

What useless reporting. We know it is a man and a woman, but no descriptions (race, build, height, etc.)? No info on the make and model of the car (or license plate info?). Why does this pass as reporting?

Journalism is dead.

I had to look through 6 or 7 stories before I found out even half of that information.

"When officers turn on their lights and sirens, they never truly know what waits. Last Tuesday, it was an officer with a gun."

So officers were shooting at each other? no wonder the suspect got away.

FTA: "That video shows a male officer getting out of his car and shouting, "Put the gun down," and then diving to avoid a hail of gunfire."

A hail of gunfire? Really? A hail of gunfire?

Did it come from brother officers trying to get him to shut up? Just how many shots did the alleged gunman get off?

Did he even have a gun? I'm guessing that if 20 shots were fired and nobody was hit, it was a pretty one-sided fight between the cops and a perfectly innocent wall.

brantgoose: FTA: "Police said they believe the gunman was shooting to kill."

Sure they do. The police were shooting to kill and didn't hit anyone. The gunman also didn't hit anyone, ergo...

Damn, beaten to the Stormtrooper reference.

I can't tell which is worse: the marksmanship of the police and the perpetrator, or the obviously stupid writer and editor of the "newspaper".

Every tried shooting somebody while they were shooting back. No, not in your video games. Didn't think so, kid.

I love that the reporter says the pig had to dive to avoid gunfire, when he actually tripped over that pipe.

Uh, this is actually the norm. Over 99% of bullets don't hit their target. There are guys that can hit the dead center of a quarter from several hundred yards using iron sights and they can't even hit the side of a car at 10 yards if they're being shot at. Precision tends to go down a wee bit when you're fighting for your life.

When officers turn on their lights and sirens, they never truly know what waits. Last Tuesday, it was an officer with a gun.

Well, that doesn't sound all that dangerous.

Police said the shooter a man, and a female accomplice got in their car and took off.

Was it the shooter (a man) and a female accomplice, or was it the shooter, a man, and a female accomplice?

Police said officers train for these moments, but they never when they'll actually encounter them.

They never what, now?

Yep. Shooting accurately requires fine motor control and concentration. These things are largely absent during a gunfight, unless you regularly train under realistic conditions, which almost nobody does.

1) hire writers that can speak and write in fluent English
2) hire editors to read the writer's writing

FTA- "These people are obviously -- by their behavior -- are very dangerous and need to be taken off the street as soon as possible."

Obviously they can't hit anything with their guns, so I think we are safe for now.

Director_Mr: What useless reporting. We know it is a man and a woman, but no descriptions (race, build, height, etc.)?

We know they aren't white, otherwise they would have told us.

2011-11-29 01:22:36 PM
The cop draws his firearm, issues commands, traverse 20 meters distance while issuing commands, receives fire, returns fire, and THEN hits the deck?

That makes no sense.

The cop doesn't "dive" to get out of the way of a barrage of gunfire.

If you look at his footwork? He trips over the curb.

Not blaming the cop for not seeing the curb, or claiming he said he had to dive (that was probably just the TVnewshead's description)... just saying, he didn't dive -- and, even if he had?

You can't dodge bullets, and at that range, by the time you hear the gunshot, you're either hit, a solid object is hit, or the bullet passed you, intact, or as fragments.

You can't dive out of the way. This is not the matrix.

Actually, what's worse is your reading comprehension. The writing is so bad because this was a TV station's story, not a newspaper's.

Actually in a different story they said it was a white man and a black woman. Maybe that is too scandalous to widely report in Georgia? LOL.

So the robber shot the ground 10 feet from the officer, and later the pig states that the robber was trying to "shoot to kill?"

I'm not on the robber's side in this argument but do the pigs have to lie to get their point across? Or are they just pu$$ies in general?

3) be timely.

Last Tuesday?
It happend last Tuesday and today they simply must send a reporter to interview the victim who provides no new information?
And where is the time/date marker on the dashcam video?
