It's really dumb the NFL's trade deadline is so early in the season. Now the NFL playoffs will be watered down with the likes of TJ Yates and Caleb Hanie, while some rebuilding non-contending team could have taken in quite a haul of future draft picks by trading off a serviceable QB in a trade that would have benefited both franchises.

And the Texans have a shot to make the playoffs. Does that mean we could have a Pure, Pure Jake?

hey, if Matt Moore can have a renaissance in Miami, why can't Jake be reborn in Houston?

They should pick up Garcia

Garcia isn't great but I'd take him over jake any day of the week.

5 picks and a lost fumble during a playoff game is a Natural Delhomme.
For a Perfect Delhomme, it must also occur heavily favored at home on his birthday.

Oh, I can't talk about this anymore. I'm getting too excited just thinking about Delhomme getting a Pefect Delhomme.

I would consider it literally impossible for Delhomme to go FULL Delhomme in Houston.

Unlike Andy Reid, Kubiak actually makes sure his star RB gets about 30 touches somehow, someway.

I thought Houston was going full Favre. That's what Fark said.

Quick, someone get David Carr on the line!

If you have any Texans TEs or WRs, drop em now. I'd expect around 10-15 passes at most. They'll be running Foster, Tate, & Ward all game.

I think you need a naissance before you can have a renaissance.

I've actually been hearing fans around here begging for this...

i881.photobucket.com

I'm so glad fans don't make decisions.

It will be Garcia. He was just on the phone with the sports talk radio show a minute ago and now Yates and Delhomme are about to call in. I guess they're campaigning.

I would prefer Rosenfail and his Rosencopter. At least we get some cool stunts with him while crashing & burning.

udeng01: We've crossed the line. We've hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation they turned to a quarterback they don't fully understand....He might think this good sport. Because some quarterbacks aren't looking for anything logical, like money or wins. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some quarterbacks just want to watch the world burn.

From an old Delhomme thread. Couldn't put it better.

Like who? Matt Flynn and Brian Hoyer? Otherwise there's not a ton of people available or worthwhile.

Jeff Garcia got beaten out by Kellen Clemens.

Kellen. Farking. Clemens.

He's done. Washed up. Oooooout.

I say go for Jake, but I'm a big Jake fan, as the Panthers got me into the NFL and my first Super Bowl ever was Panthers/Patriots when I was just a kid.

/Alternately, theres Graham Harrell, Colt Brennan and a host of other young guys, I guess

And I like the Texans too much to wish The Mistake upon them.

Even trading for someone like Jason Cambell (who is coming off of injury soon), Donovan McNabb, Josh Johnson or Bruce Gradkowski would be better than trying to revive the corpse of Jake Delhomme. His passer rating the last two seasons were 59 and 63, with a combined TD:INT ratio of 10:25.

2011-11-29 02:19:54 PM
Jeff Garcia could barely throw the ball over 20 yards in his prime, and his prime was 12 years ago.

THIS. Garcia can hand the ball off just as well as Yates, so why bring in the n00b when Yates is already in the system?

Am I the only person who thought Yates looked pretty good in that drive where Kubiak actually called plays? Not saying he's the Texans' Brady, but he didn't do anything stupid and appears to be able to throw to the correct team.

Everyone saw it, but then Kubiak decided to channel John Fox and call no plays greater than 5 yards

Yea, but could you blame him? If Yates had gotten hurt, Owen Daniels was next in line for backup QB. I thought Yates looked pretty decent and maybe with a week's worth of practice, we may have a better understanding of what we have. I just wish his first real test wasn't against the freaking Falcons.

Pratty: You didn't watch the Vikings this year, did you?

As bad as McNabb is, he's still not even approaching the level known as Delhomme bad. McNabb isn't going to reliably move your offense, but he also doesn't throw many interceptions. Delhomme doesn't move your offense and then throws at least 2 or 3 Favre-esque "WTF was that?" interceptions per game on top of that.

You have Andre Johnson, a beast man with the ability to catch anything above him. You can't overthrow Andre Johnson. You need a strong armed sec quarterback with experience on the big stage.

Before the Bad Day, Delhomme was actually a good, at least B+ level QB with many flashes of brilliance. All I'm saying is that maybe taking a year off has let him do some inner searching.. find the QB he once was.. unbreak whatever broke that day.

I just want to know who David Garrard killed. With all the quarterbacks going down with injuries I've yet to hear his name being called. He has to be better than Kellen Clemens.

Is he recovered sufficently from his back surgery? I think he may have scared a team or two off when he coincidently had it scheduled just before the Raiders called.

He had back surgery in October for a herniated disc.

This situation would be a great fit for Atlanta's backup Chris Redman. He's 34, never really gotten a shot at being a starter anywhere and probably never will. But he is good enough that he might could take the Texans to the Super Bowl, if only this happened before the trade deadline and Atlanta could be enticed to giving him up somehow.
