I'm guessing it's because any time an archaeologist finds something they can't explain, they write it off as a worship site of some type.

Just like the religions of today. Christianity teaches you to be grateful while silently judging others, Islam teach to always want what you do not have and kill those that have what you want, Jew teach that everyone is out to get you so hold you assets tight, atheist religion teaches to hat everything that is against your personal gain.

Now, to keep these religions in line, they have 'gods'. and you 'worship' them. However. IMHO Worship just means to follow in the teachings of. mmmm... I Follow in the teachings of Yoda, so I 'worship' him. Worship is another word for admire......
