Yeah we all know how this goes. Little bit of booze, some music, a small-but-tough bouncer, and before you know it some poor saps getting his neck ripped out.

I'll be they could have:

Keep the music under the decibel limit, cut off people who are drunk.

Ahhh, good old Fairfax county. The best thing I ever did was move out of that hell hole. Keep in mind this is the same place, well Herndon specifically, that arrested Santa Claus for drunk in public.

Hehe, I go to this bar sometimes. People probably got scared of the large groups of hispanics congregating in the parking lots. Of course, you can go about a mile into Fairfax city an dance at the college bars, no one seems to have a problem with them.

Maria Aguilar, who owns Fast Eddie's Billiard Cafe in Fairfax County, thought her business was headed pretty quickly toward success.

Every weekend, patrons flocked to the cavernous space on Route 1 south of Alexandria to eat, drink, shoot pool, throw darts and dance, sometimes to live broadcasts from the Latin radio station "El Zol" (99.1 FM).

Well there's your problem right there.

2011-11-29 12:22:58 PM
This isn't about some license, it's about a bunch of stupid Mexicans not knowing how to act in public. I see this every weekend at the bar I work it. The more of them you get together, the stupider it's going to be.

Arresting people for public intoxication IN bars/restaurants if they consumed more than 2 or 3 drinks in an hour.

Also, same county that was busting Asian Massage Parlors, by having the officers actually get happy endings. Not just the offer, no, no, no...but going through the act to completion, then arresting the women.

Yeah...

I just love how the race card was quickly put into play.

Zoning is zoning and you know that going in with a business. That's why some bars are not allowed in some areas and a dance club that has music loud enough to rattle windows a block away will not be welcome near a residential district.

I used to live about a block away from a bar which liked to feature new bands and startup groups, but they had sound proofing and while you could hear the music, it didn't rattle the krap out of your windows and over ride your TV.

We had a redneck bar where you just KNEW there were going to be fights on the weekend and loud country music. It was placed down the highway and not in or near a residential area. When things got too loud, the cops showed up. (Actually, on weekends, they should have just had a couple of cop cars stay right there and an ambulance also.)

Just because you get shut down for being a pain in the arse doesn't mean it's racist.

It means you're a pain in the arse.

Well, there is social responsibility on the part of the restaurant/bar...first off, not over serving guests is key here, charging $5-$10 as a cover charge helps keep a decent amount of the riffraff out...keeping the music down so that homes blocks away cannot hear the bass bumping sort of helps with community image, also STOP OVER SERVING!!! I really hate when restaurants complain about drunk guests...responsibility, hows it work? And if the bartenders are so concerned about not making enough money due to less alcohol being served, use some of the cover charge money to add too their pay.

We don't have many dancehalls here in Fredericksburg but the only bars that get busted for constant fights and trouble are the Hispanic ones I think it is a cultural thing for them-you get drunk and you get in a fight. Or rape someone..

The bar that I work at has a very serious "You act stupid, you get thrown out" policy. About once a month, we throw out a stupid Mexican that won't shut up, won't go home, and won't go away. So they go to jail.

I'm okay with that.

There's no bars in the Commonwealth. Anywhere they sell mixed drinks, they have to sell food. I think a certain percentage of sales actually have to be from food, too.

/VA's liquor laws are farked; thanks Byrd Organization...dating back to the prohibition repeal
//And the folks in the General Assembly who won't fix the tax code to let that Irish Catholic governor get the Commonwealth out of the business of selling all of it.....

Fairfax County is the official Police State of the east coast. You can't sneeze without a cop peeking around a corner.

1) Fill business in excess of double its capacity creating an unsafe environment for patrons
2) Over sell the event leaving late comers out in the cold (not sure if this is in violation of any law but I assume it would be)
3) Crank up to volume so as to break noise ordinances
4) Claim it was all a racist plot against you
5) Profit

They're simple laws that apply to everyone. I remember back in the late 90s when Potomac Mills Mall(not in Fairfax but nearby) was fined for exceeding capacity on black Friday.

Hell, they'll come into the bar and arrest people for public drunkenness. At least they did in the past.

I'm not surprised at all that race is being brought up. There is a lot of tension between residents and the large latino population (many illegal) there to do the all the menial jobs. They want the immigrants there to do low paying jobs, just not be seen otherwise.

^Seriously. It's not about "racism". I figured most of the Mexicans and Bolivians were all in Prince William County. But they're breaking noise ordinances. They don't care if you're dancing, it's the music that's too loud. They'd react the same way if it were white drunken college students making the noise. If they really really want to keep it there, at least use lava rock insulation to keep the noise INSIDE.

Oh, but I thought republicans were all about LESS regulations! Suddenly, they love regulations when they see that they're there for a reason.

Meh. I live here (Actually in Loudoun, same difference). I hate everyone involved in this.

I hate the restaurant owners for playing the race card so fast.

I hate the FFXCo police, this isn't the first time they didn't know how to deal with bars.

I hate the busybody residents who buy a house next to a bar and then complain about it.

I hate this state's draconian liquor laws to begin with (the aforementioned fact that "bars" don't actually exist, among many other things).

Sensible laws and everyone acting like adults would go a long ways towards making everyone happy, but instead everyone acts like dicks and all hell breaks loose.

This thread reeks of racism. Way to go, assholes.

As for TFA, is the town run by puritans? If the business is violating a noise ordinance, fine them as appropriate. "No dancing" just makes you look like religious nuts.

I don't know what that is. If it has something to do with Hispanics, have you ever been to Sterling? Notably Sterling Blvd. between 28 and 7? Let's be real here, Eastern Loudoun is Fairfax West.
