Headline veers very close to triggering one of my historical pet peeves: People who misunderstand the purpose of the 3/5ths compromise.

But since this is the sports tab, fark the Steelers - the Pats will get you back in the playoffs.

Maybe next time he'll take more notice of who reports in as 'tackle eligible' on a play.........

I'm actually shocked his hair didn't deploy like an airbag and protect his head as it got closer to the turf.

It's a shame that someone like Polamalu, who will likely have a spot in the Steelers lineup until the day he decides to retire, can't put his hand up and say "I need a break". As much as I like to beat up on Sydney Crosby, he did the right thing by taking his time coming back, and the benefits are pretty apparent. The Steelers can afford to have Polamalu miss a game, they're going to make the playoffs... (especially if the game is against the Bengals...)

Failmitter, it's not necessary to add the 's after 3/5, because the 5 in the denominator is understood to stand for "fifths". Also, there is no apostrophe in "fifths".

2011-11-29 11:13:00 AM
They were being ridiculously cautious merely because he's Polamalu.

Anyone else would've been back in there.

I highly doubt he suffered a concussion.

2011-11-29 11:15:17 AM
I kinda figured they were being extremely conservative by not letting him back into the game. Everyone has their interpretation I guess.

You know who else didn't like you to compare things?

Timothy McVeigh. That's who.

It's a shame that one day he may exhibit "death-like symptoms". This is nothing new, the Steelers don't care about their players.

I'm wiling to bet that he puts a lot of that pressure on himself. I'm no expert, but if he says to the team on the record that he thinks he needs to sit out and they put him in, wouldn't that be potential lawsuit territory in the future considering what we're dealing with?

As an aside, the Steelers are a below average to average defense without Polamalu. I'm not sure anyone in the league has as much of an impact on his defensive squad.

This year Polamalu lost a step. Maybe it's age, maybe it's the hits that he delivers (and getting hurt while doing that) but he's not what he was in the past. Still a top 5 safety but he's not #1 anymore. I'd take Ed Reed over him.

In mid-October, Steelers safety Troy Polamalu suffered "concussion-like" symptoms after a "head" injury.
Was it a head injury or a "head" injury?

Might have been a hair injury, no way to truly tell.

I'd still take Troy over Reed, but I'm biased. Sadly, I think Troy's playing days are limited. He's been far too concussion prone, not to mention the other injuries that he winds up with.

A few years ago, if this were hockey he'd be listed as "day-to-day" on the injury report with a "lower body injury".

But now even the NHL is dead serious about ze head injuries.

You know the Bengals are 7-4, played the Steelers to within 7 and don't suck total ass this year, right?

And like I said to someone saying "'concussion-like symptoms'? Isn't that just a concussion?"

Of course not, if he had a concussion he'd have to sit out next week. Therefore he has "concussion-like symptoms." (so he can play until he's a vegetable!)

sucks because Polamalu is about the only famous Steeler I can stand

/I liked Mike Wallace when he was on my fantasy team last year, I guess

Came here to say this. These helmets have been around for several years now, and two of the notable holdouts that haven't switched to them are TP and Toothlessburger. Ben even publically shunned one in the months after the donorcycle wreck and stated he wouldn't switch until the new helmets were more comfortable. We're talking about two real idiots here who are voluntarily playing roullette with what tiny little bit of natural "intelligence" they were born with, so fark 'em.
