Meh. I believe the royal family pays more in taxes than it receives from the government in salary. And they do perform a number of ceremonial duties to earn whatever salary they receive. They also generate a great deal of tourism revenue for the country.

Most of their wealth (again, I believe) is inherited wealth and investments. Now, how that inherited wealth was generated in centuries prior is another argument altogether.
