Peter Griffin: Everybody, I got bad news. We've been canceled.

Lois Griffin: Oh, no! Peter, how could they do that?

Peter Griffin: Well, unfortunately, Lois, there's just no more room on the schedule. We've just got to accept the fact that Fox has to make room for terrific shows, like "Dark Angel", "Titus", "Undeclared", "Action", "That '80s Show", "Wonder Falls", "Fastlane", "Andy Richter Controls the Universe", "Skin", "Girls Club", "Cracking Up", "The Pitts", "Firefly", "Get Real", "Freaky Links", "Wanda at Large", "Costello", "The Lone Gunmen", "A Minute with Stan Hooper", "Normal, Ohio", "Pasadena", "Harsh Realm", "Keen Eddie", "The Street", "American Embassy", "Cedric the Entertainer", "The Tick", "Louie", and "Greg the Bunny".

Lois Griffin: Is there no hope?

Peter Griffin: Well, I suppose if all those shows go down the tubes, we might have a shot.

Because People in power are Stupid: Did they ever think that maybe it's on at a bad time. Put it against some stupid reality show and see how good it does.

Thursday night comedy is supposed to be the thing. The real crime here is that Whitney has been allowed a full, uninterrupted season while Community has to worry about cancellation. However, it seems that Whitney has been moved to some other night while Up All Night is coming in to fill the 4th slot when 30 Rock comes back.

I say they put those relationshippy type shows together and just let us have our situational comedies together. Community, Parks & Rec, Office, 30 Rock. Perfect lineup is perfect. JUST LET US KEEP IT ALREADY dammit

Tried watching this show last week. Started with the pilot. I dunno, maybe I'm just getting tired of comedy shows in my old age, but the age-old trope of "man acting like lying sociopath to get laid" is just wearying now.

How far along did you get? The first two episodes are more set-up than anything else, they're not that great. Give it four episodes at least, that's when they get into the groove.

Give it 5-6 episodes. I find it to be one of the most clever, funny and at times heartwarming shows on TV now.

I thought so too at first and hated the traditional sitcom-y Jeff and Britta characters. It gets far better. They abandon the TV cliches midway through season 1 and go off on awesome tangents. Stick with it or just skip to the paintball episode to see.

I love Community, but this season has gone downhill fast. I've watched every episode of Whitney and I have laughed, even out loud, more times than I have watching Community. I think people love to hate Whitney because of the laugh track. It bothered me at first, but I don't notice it much anymore. I don't think Community should be canceled, but you can kind of tell the writers are running out of ideas.

\30 Rock is terrible and Parks and Rec is just an extremely unfunny doppelgänger of The Office.

Agreed. With the first paintball episode, they firmly cemented their status as a show I would love forever. One of the best episodes of any show, ever. There, I said it.

Stupid NBC show will survive for two reasons.

One, it's on NBC. They need any show with a fanbase whereas On a real network, it would have been canceled long ago.

Second, one more season takes the show into Syndication territory, and syndication deals have already been signed, IIRC. So, they need one more season to make a lot of money.

So quit your biatching.

Give it 7-8 episodes. That's when you really start to see the quickiness and callbacks to previous gags.

I'll admit that the last season of 30 Rock wasn't as funny as its 2nd and 3rd, but it had some damn funny episodes (TGS Hates Women, Operation Righteous Cowboy Lightning, Queen of Jordan).

Cliche jokes are cliche for a reason. Honestly, Community is so absurd with its use of convenient plot devices that the only reason I watch is because The Soup is funny. And Allison Brie is hot.

If enough fans write in they would probably consider it on other NBC owned properties. Stick it in the USA lineup, tweak it a little more sciencey and they could put it on SyFy.

It starts getting better around episode 5. Ep 6 spends time building Troy up to be a dumb jock, which they drop later, and kind of slows down the pace. It gets good with 7, Awesome with 9, and Outstanding with Modern Warfare (23?)

That only lasts a couple episodes - one of the main ideas of the show is that these people really do care about each other a lot, and even Jeff becomes a serious friend to all these people. It happens relatively quickly.

Has one of my favorite exchanges in the history of the show:

Troy: [Abed is dressed as Batman] Can I ask you something I always wanted to ask the real Batman?
Abed: [in Batman's voice] Yeah.
Troy: Am I good looking?
Abed: You're a very attractive young man.
Troy: I knew it!

Much too busy shouting from the hilltops of Cincinnati how unfunny and trite all the Monty Python stuff is. People need to be told what is funny and not funny on a daily basis. This is America, after all.

I've tried to stick with The Office, thinking maybe it just hit a rough patch, but you just can't build a show around Andy Bernard. He was only barely tolerable as a supporting character. They really needed to end the whole thing at Carrell's exit.

At least they moved Whitney off the Thursday night lineup so she can be paired with that other unfunny bint, Chelsea Handler.

Watch the 1st Season; it will take time. Then get Season 2 and you'll be hooked to watch at a rapid clip. Get Seasons 3 and 4 and get comfortable for a marathon, because you won't be able to stop. Then at Season 5, skip around, especially during the Telegoths subplot until you get to the last few episodes and then....
