They opened for Muse when the tour came through Phoenix, and it was really friggin' weird, the hot girl on bass who wasn't singing even though it looked like she should have been, while the hipster guy was singing.

Considering that hipster jeans are basically a reprise of 80s metal jeans, a musical genre that also featured quite a lot of falsetto, I think this theory bears further investigating.
