For those who have gotten tired of staring at Jimmy Wales and Brandon Harris, this should produce a chuckle.

I got sick and tired of Jimmy Wales looking at me with their accusing eyes and then I realized that it's because I go to the site all the time. So I ponied up some cash. Now I feel weirdly better.

They should use the Teacher from Pink Floyd's "The Wall". That'll get people to feel guilty.

Btw, just finished a copy of Dave's book early this morning. Very good read, he doesn't hold back on anything in it. 'Thirteen' is kick ass, as well.

"Rock and Roll" hall of fame.

"Nice" use of quotation marks there, Dave.

I think it's funny that Jimmy Wales will forever be recognized from some random person's search. I searched for John Wayne Gacy the other day and sure enough Jimmy's picture came up at the top. You have to wonder how many people will accidentally mistake him for someone he isn't.

I lolled.

Also, Drew, Beer is free if someone else is buying, boobies are free on the internet (that's what Al Gore had in mind, although HE'S the type who probably does just want to see how awesome owl's are) and Mike was FREAKING RIGHT.

/We all got over it.

So is this satire? Sorry. It's late, I just got home from hockey and I have to get up in 6 hours and 21 minutes.

So if it's satire, i lol'd.

If Dave Mustaine is really trying to get people to raise $1 million, I say, you're a multi-million selling artist who doesn't spend his coin on drugs anymore, why don't you kick in the million you sanctimonious asswad?

Whoa, an SA link? That takes me back.
They've changed layouts so much that all I can really recognize is the name.

Good to see Zack Parsons still has it, he was only second to old Lowtax.

True. If Dave hadn't found something to latch on to, he probably would have ended up dead in a hotel room somewhere. And at least he didn't turn into a sanctimonious prick about it and renounce his entire musical career.

But I wish he'd play The farking Conjuring.

/also, this article was hilarious.

Yeah, Wiki really has a guitarist who happens to be the lead singer and guitarist for Megadeth.

Eh, yeah. I mean, it is irritating to see some guy turn completely evangelistic... even to a Christian like me. Then again, I suppose those guys do what they think they have to do to stay alive. That guy from Korn (not a big fan, but good example) pissed people off by completely cutting himself out of the band, but he is his own person. He's happier and not on a road to being dead.

For a genre of music that seems to have so much disdain for religion, quite a few big stars in metal are religious. Off of the top of my head... Tom Araya (Roman Catholic), Alice Cooper (Christian), Kirk Hammett (Buddhist), Rob Halford (Christian, also openly gay), Scott Ian (Jewish)... Ozzy is reportedly Christian, but I can't find a hard source for that. All of the newer bands that do the whole "f*ck the church" routine seem to forget that the guys who started the genre either went to church to begin with or are alive because they decided to stick to a life plan that involved faith in a higher power.

Come on, guys! Let's all pitch in! Jimbo needs another yacht!

I think that a lot of the "fark the church" attitude you see in metal is backlash. For years, we had the evangelicals and the fundamentalists going around talking about how heavy metal was Satanic, so a lot of the guys that grew up in that scene decided that, if they're going to be labeled as evil anyway, they might as well embrace it. And you know what? It works for the genre. The occult themes really add to the theatrical quality of a lot of bands in a very positive way.

Now, I'm a SubGenius myself, but I won't begrudge anybody their choice of religion (or lack thereof) as long as they don't begrudge me mine. And, like I said, Christianity has been a net positive in Dave Mustaine's life, and I'd much rather have Christian Dave than no Dave at all. I do wish he hadn't completely renounced The Conjuring, though, and here's why: last year was the 25th anniversary of Rust in Peace, and Megadeth celebrated by doing a tour in which they played the entire album, end to end. It was a really great experience, hearing such a masterpiece performed in concert. This year was the 25th of Peace Sells, an album that I think was just as great as Rust, but because Dave won't play The Conjuring, they couldn't do the same for that album. That's my one and only gripe.

OK, so I meant 20th for Rust. My bad.
