A glance through the author's previous articles reveals he's a dumbass without much of a clue.

This won't be a popular opinion, but she shouldn't be allowed to, just like Gabby Giffords (might have the name wrong) shouldn't still be a congresswoman. If you are no longer able to do a given job you shouldn't get to keep the job. Just like Paterno continuing to "coach" long after he had wandered into doddering old man territory, leaving someone who is partially mentally incapacitated is wrong. It is wrong to the person, and it is wrong to those that she coaches.

Coaching a college team is not nearly as important as being a Congresswoman. The responsibilities are vastly different. And AFIAC, Penn State retaining Joe Pa despite being a doddering old man are not the problem. If that was the only issue, then that's up to Penn State if they want some old codger at the helm of a multimillion dollar football program. It was Joe Pa's willingness to overlook kids getting buggered in his locker room was the problem. If Pat can do the job, she's damn well earned the benefit of the doubt after everything she's done for women's basketball and the University of Tennessee.

Hey, has anybody pointed out that Pat Summitt is still coaching?

Pat Summit at 75% is better than 98% of basketball coaches on the planet, regardless of sex.

1. Saying Giffords is not fit to serve (hell, half of Congress isn't) is an unpopular and un-PC opinion.

2. I'm not condoning Paterno's overlooking kid touchers at all, just pointing out he really hasn't been the coach for a while, which isn't fair to whomever is actually coaching.

3. Women's basketball is vastly different than college football (joking about being a sport or not aside), where even though there are assistant coaches, they have much less importance. I'm guessing that there are times when the current coach can do it, but the moment there is a time (even if it is even for an hour, half a day, whatever) when she can't she should be removed, no matter what she has done historically. The potential futures of these women in the WNBA (making tens of thousands of dollars) is on the line, and it is not fair to current athletes.

She's severely impaired, but will continue this season, most likely, but it will certainly be her last; she's being propped up by her assistant coaches. My dad knows her ex husband and he said her condition is not good at all.

The primary job requirements of any head coach in major college sporting programs is to recruit and fund raise and rub elbows with boosters, which Pat Summit can still do quite well.
