Stupid shoppers. You can get TVs all the time. Getting a dead body is rare.

Consumerism is a disease

Unless you cook it for a longer period of time.

It's not like stopping would bring him back to life and I want a new phone dammit!

They didn't check his pockets for cash? Way to waste a black Friday, amateurs.

I've found it easier to get live bodies and then make them dead myself. Strangling hobos is less work then digging up corpses.

A real Black Friday shopper would have taken his "buy 1, get 1 free" coupons.

I like how the article points out that the initial reports stated no one helped the man while they contacted his wife who said 6 nurses shopping in the store stopped to help perform CPR until paramedics arrived.

Media actually reporting stories? Reporting as a profession is dead.

2011-11-28 02:15:42 PM
Ummm, what about this part?

"While some news organizations say that no one helped the collapsed man, his wife refuted this report.

Lynne Vance said six nurses shopping in the store came to her husband's rescue and performed CPR until paramedics arrived"

FTA: Walter Vance, the 61-year-old pharmacist, who reportedly suffered from a prior heart condition, later died in hospital.

He wasn't quite dead yet. They figured they had time til the cart came around again.

"Walter Vance, the 61-year-old pharmacist, who reportedly suffered from a prior heart condition, later died in hospital, reports MSNBC."

They weren't stepping over a corpse to get that $2 Waffle Iron, they were ignoring a dying man. That makes it OK.

Gawd Damn It! We do not let facts get in the way of a Green-light nor a thread ripe for righteous indignation!

Please step back from the keyboard!

We ought to be embarrassed as a country. The Black Friday footage of people cramming into stores and running over each other to get a deal on video game is what you would expect to see in some third world UN refugee camp where people are fighting over a handful of rice. Actually, I take that back, I think the refugees would actually treat each other better than Black Friday idiots would.

No wonder Americans have a chip on their shoulder. The rest of the world is continually laughing at us.

GungFu: Is there a reason it's called 'Black' Friday?

I think because it brings retail stores "into the black," profit wise...

GungFu: Is there a reason it's called 'Black' Friday?

It's supposedly the day that retailers start seeing a profit for the year. Most of the year they operate in the red, Black Friday is roughly the first day their annual accounts go into the black.

He was just getting in line for Heavenly Tuesday. That's when the deceased get to go shopping for heavily discounted items. If you haven't prayed to Grandma for a new video game you are missing out on the third largest retail day following Cyber Monday, Black Friday. But, don't bother Jebus with your requests, he'll be grabbing a 200 foot jumbotron tv so his dad can review the lives of the sinners and the saved (according to J. Chick).

Soon to come: Flash Mob Grab and Go Wednesday. Get what you want and pay nothing.

I'm sure that's what she WANTS to believe, but who here really thinks that even one nurse is going to take time away from shopping to do their job for free?

You just can't let a dying man get in the way of getting that X-Box on sale for $6.53 off.

About this and many, many other things. I'm trying to figure out exactly when America forgot to grow up.

If he didn't want to be stepped over he shouldn't have died there. It was his own fault.

"Where is the good Samaritan side of people?" Vance's co-worker Sue Compton told WSAZ-TV.

"How could you not notice someone was in trouble? I just don't understand if people didn't help what their reason was, other than greed because of a sale."

Well, corporations are people and Target was lucid and wanted my money so I went with the winner.

GungFu: Is there a reason it's called 'Black' Friday?

Recycled from the "Obama refuses to acknowledge Thanksgiving is a Christian holiday" thread:

1And it came to pass that Jesus prepared to ascend into Heaven, to be returned unto His Father. And the time of his departure was about one month prior to His birthday. 2And He spake to his disciples, saying: "Behold, he who has ears to hear, let him hear. For I shall establish a great nation, that shall be devoted unto Me. 3And by this sign shall you know it: The Founders, who shall be counted among My disciples, shall not sup with each other with mere bread and wine, as I have supped with thee. 4The Founders of My nation shall feast upon turkey, and dressing, and green bean casserole, and bitter cranberries sweetened, just as My sacrifice has sweetened the bitterness of thy sins. 5And they shall also have pie, of pumpkin, and of apple, as it pleaseth them. 6And as thou enjoyeth this Feast, remember thereupon to give Thanksgiving unto the Lord. 7And woe be unto those who shall try to secularize this holy Day of Thanksgiving Unto The Lord Thy God, for on the Day of Judgement they shall be thrown into Sheol, where the fire burneth eternally, and the worm doth not die, and liberals shall gnash their wicked teeth in anguish for ever and ever, Amen."

8And then He ascended into Heaven, on a Friday, the same day of the week that He was crucified. 9And the disciples wept, at the departure of the Lord. And to assuage their sorrow, they went shopping. 10And those job creators amongst the believers who had shops, did give unto their customers large discounts and special offers, to commemorate the ascension of the Lord. 11And they spake amongst themselves, saying: "We shall forevermore keep this tradition. And we shall call it Black Friday, because of the sorrow we felt when our Lord left us. But we shall give unto the 99 percent these discounts, as a sign of hope for the return of our Lord."

I do. I worked in a regional Best Buy type store in Canada, and on my first Boxing Day (our chaos-level equivalent to Black Friday) we had a customer who had a seizure in the store. Another customer identified herself as a nurse and, while staff kept other (exceedingly dumber, greedier) customers out of the way, she kept an eye on the guy until paramedics arrived.

People, it's capitalism! Remember the old Jay Leno Doritos commercial, "Eat all you want, we'll make more"? It's like THAT. There'll always be new TVs and video games, often at low prices.

Besides, if you touched a collapsed person, even in an attempt to help him, you could wind up accused of sexual molestation from one of those whiny hall monitors out there.

Pincy: No wonder Americans have a chip on their shoulder. The rest of the world is continually laughing at us.

Then the rest of the world needs to learn about logic and statistics. A tiny minority of people behave this way, and they are held up to public derision, right here in the good ol' U.S. of A. Here, for example, there were people assembled to await the opening of stores, but they were very well-behaved and orderly. Given the countless Black Friday sales, and the very, very finite stories about Black Friday misbehavior and asshattery, I suspect that my observation could be repeated quite often elsewhere.

Of course, it might just be you that doesn't see things clearly.

I'd say throw a REDUCED price sign on the body. You'd be suprised at the stupid crap people buy when it has SALE on it.

Should this really count as a casualty of the annual Running Of The Fools?

I mean, he's a guy with a bum ticker who just happened to be shopping on Black Friday when his heart gave out. If he was at his home or at a bowling alley when it happened, it wouldn't have made the news outside of his local paper.

Yes, because a man being attended to by 6 nurses and a child lying in the road is the exact same thing.

It's late in the year, but I think you just slipped in a serious contender for Stupid Post of the Year™.

2-year-old kid got run over by two cars. Dozens of passers-by don't even give her a second look until one person moves her off the road and onto the sidewalk - and then that person ignores her, just like everyone else. The kid eventually died from her injuries.

This news story is about an old guy in Florida who died of a heart attack.
