the sad part is that this is, in fact, a very important story, and it would be nice to learn the details as to what the sanctions are, and what the vote was....

too bad, huh?

Ah not so fast there Mr. Snarky-Pants, the reporter made a critical addition to the body copy:

Without that, who knows where the Arab League made their approval? Could be Belgium!

Apparently, everything I need to say is in this post.

It's just confusing. Is it the Canadian Cairo or one of ten Cairos in the US?

What if everything i needed to know really was in that headline.

Whoa.

@UFIA it was the worst. groping. ever.

On the other hand, I appreciate the way the writer was able to sum up the article with the headline.

And Syria's Unfortunate Events.

That headline makes sense, but at the same time makes no sense.

I always thought the Arab League jumped the shark when they added the Wonder Twins and Gleek.

Iraq has come out saying that they are against the sanctions and will refuse to obey them. I'm so glad we installed democracy there; it has really made a lot of difference in terms of their role as 'evil bastards' in the Arab world.

soy_bomb: I always thought the Arab League jumped the shark when they added the Wonder Twins and Gleek.

You have to admit they had a pretty kick-ass headquarters, though. And a great narrator.

jimmyego: Could be Belgium!

Now now, no need for language of that sort.

I can't believe they buried the lead like that.

i get it, it's funny because the editor mistakenly filed the story under "national" instead of "world." what a maroon.

8 Months? The USA waited just under 2 months and less in places before they cracked the whip on the peaceful protesters. And the pepper spray, and the tasers, and the rubber bullets, and the jail time. The message is "we are the 1 percent, we run the police forces, deal with it and get to your Christmas shopping."

To be fair, the AP has been updating that story all day. The Washington Post either didn't put the update on its website, or more likely, they made a new page for the update and forgot to get rid of the page with the initial news alert. If you look around the site, I'm sure you'll find a longer version of the story.
