The "communications mishap":

"We were under the impression that Michele Bachmann wouldn't be in this area."

2011-11-27 10:23:09 AM
"I am the first and only candidate to sign a pledge to build a fence within a date certain within the first year of my Presidency and I hold to that," says Bachmann. "I'm the highest grade of any of the candidates on the issue of immigration. I'm proud to do that."

Staffers attributed her comments and behaviour to an overtight necktie.

Only about 15 people showed up to the event, which Bachmann's publicist blames on a "communications mishap."

The promoter, who looked a lot like Paul Schaffer, then promptly bent over in front of Bachmann and said "Kick my ass! This ass needs a good kicking."

How about signing a pledge to blow me?

"I'm not unpopular, I'm incompetent!"

Shine on, you crazy diamond.

Read that sentence out loud. Then close your eyes and think about some insane cackling homeless person screaming that on a streetcorner. It doesn't seem incongruous, does it?

How many times have I told them? Puppet show first THEN Michele Bachmann!

And now this thread has more posts than she had supporters at the event.

Unsurprising. The American people are sick of extremists. Just take a look at the 2011 elections.

2011-11-27 02:21:03 PM
Anyone remember when Ralph Nader called for a press conference last election, and nobody showed? This reminds me of that.

You know Mitt doesn't have this in the bag. If you think about it when the "anybody but Mitt" candidates stop dropping the numbers are going to consolidate.

2011-11-27 02:22:17 PM
They only showed up because they were told there would be punch and pie.

She has more children than supporters.

Punch and pie, even.

Well, when you harmonize the statistical quirks, that's actually about 15,000 people.

This is bad news . . . for Obama.

/Oh, and the Boston gig's been canceled.

Imagine this scenario: the reporter counts the people in the room, and there are fifteen of them. Reporter dutifully reports this precise number. Then, it turns out that Mildred Horsefanny was in the powder room when the counting occurred, and incontrovertible photographic evidence surfaces proving that, in fact, there had been sixteen supporters in the room. The "Fox and Friends" morning zoo issues a fatwa on the reporter, and Rush devotes an entire segment to how this shameful incident simply reaffirms (as if any affirmation were needed) that the media is in the tank for the Liberals.

Easier to just say "about 15," which is technically true (the best kind of true!) and no one gripes.

Except you.

She certainly is a high grade something.

Again with the fence bullshiat? Where is the money going to come from for this magical fence? The only conceivable way I can think they'll be able to raise funding for it is if her,Palin and Cain do a porn.

I liked the quantum fluctuations explanation more; it was funny and didn't remind me that a "news" show called "Fox and Friends" exists- "Fox and Friends" sounds like it would be the title of a kids' show involving anthropomorphic puppets.

'Cause Bachmann was there (and she's originally from Iowa).

You know, communications mishaps do happen, sometimes.

2011-11-27 02:53:01 PM
All 16 were reporters reporting on the other 15 reporters they saw.

2011-11-27 02:54:35 PM
You make 15 people sound like a small crowd.

In the republican alternative universe it only takes 5 people to "prove" you are taking over.

One local paper (Argus) says 15, the other paper (Times) says 10. Probably depends on whether you count her staff. The funny this is that the information the paper printed last Monday was correct (Link (new window)). So, either she's lying, or her staff is incompetent, or her staff is lying to her and she's ignorant.

My choice is the first, since her booksigning at the Mall of America in her own state only drew 50 people Link (new window)

So, hypothetically speaking, if Michelle were to be elected President, would that make Marcus the first lady?

Pioneering the GILF market.

Well . . . one down.

Really hope you enjoy the 2012 election, teabaggers. Maybe this will be a good time to learn that when participating in the political process, it's beneficial not to have your mouth full of scrotum.
