The Union Leader has been fascist republican since before it became popular. Not surprised.

Yup. It's been called the Mis-Leader for decades.

Ever seen a cable network called Fox News? It's beyond misleading, is so disconnected from reality that it seems to be competing with the satire publication called The Onion.

Why bother putting their names together? "Newt Gingrich" is an anagram for "retching wing".

I just can't imagine who Newt appeals to. The teabaggers will claim support for him, but his pussy-hound ways have to drive them crazy. And Newt is such a sleazy asshole I can't imagine that he appeals to anyone who isn't just willing to vote for anyone because they just hate that black guy in the White House.

In short, if this guy does get the nomination -- and he will not -- it'll be an asswhipping of FDR over Landon and Nixon over McGovern proportions.

The Tea Partiers are a strange bunch. They claim to be independent but refuse to start their own party. If Romney or Gingrich get the nomination and a third party candidate appears that has all the supposed Tea Party values the Tea Partiers will line up in mass and vote straight Republican ignoring that third party candidate.

2011-11-27 12:03:42 PM
So, a far-right newspaper with a readership consisting solely of fringe nutjobs endorses a candidate...and it's splashed all over CNN. Media creating a story? Just maybe. They would love to have the ultimate blowhard hypocrite running for president. They'll make Reverend Wright look like the kind treatment. Just wait til the deathbed infidelities start getting 24x7 repetition on the major networks.

Oh, wait; that's not going to happen. The Left doesn't have a Sean Hannity who will harp on the same subject nonstop for 6 months until finally the major networks cover it just to 'prove' that they don't have a bias.

Because, in the end, adherence to their screwed-up beliefs is not as important as is their hatred of 'the other'. The Teahadists are primarily driven by their ire towards the outgroup, comprising liberals/socialists/communists/marxists/intellectuals/hippies/gays/sec ularists/atheists, and view the Democratic party as symbolizing all these things. They know that if they break off from the Republicans they'll make a Democratic victory that much more likely, and as a result will line up and support a Republican even if his past policies are virtually identical to the current Democrat he's opposing.

2011-11-27 12:12:34 PM
It's so fun to watch the Republicans desperately try to not pick Mittens. The guy makes John Kerry look like a paragon of consistency.

Or in other words, imagine if a Democrat campaigned on being a liberal champion but in his only actual tenure as an elected official he had been a governor of South Carolina who held positions to the right of Jim DeMint and passed a bill that replaced the SC public school system with a system of private schools with vouchers.

With that being said, Newt is actually worse. Extremely amusing to watch. Can't wait for Obama to wipe the floor with one of these douchebags in a few months.

Nah, they like it. It's a sign of dominance. If you just imagine Ron Swanson's take on any political thing, you'll perfectly understand the Tea Party. Just imagine how Ron Swanson would respond if someone said that his favored politician was a pussy-hound (By the way, I LOVE THIS TERM!).

"I don't really care what a man does with his personal time. In fact, I think it's a good sign that Newt chases tail all the time. It's what any dominant male should do. I picture him as an alpha male in the ancestral serengeti. He would have a harem, because he's the powerful male who can accrue the most mates. In this world of 'only the strong survive,' sometimes a fella has to hit it and quit it."

If it's so important, why haven't I ever heard of it before?

Not written is that Ronald Reagan is the only President the Union Leader has picked in 30 years. If they mattered Steve Forbes would be President.

Krugman, though he says "somebody said" -

"It was his time, the Republican base doesn't want Romney and they keep looking for an alternative, and Newt - although somebody said 'he's a stupid man's idea of what a smart person sounds like,' but he is more plausible than the other guys they've been pushing up."

I work with a guy that kept talking about how much he loves Newt. Finally, I mentioned the fact that Newt had cheated on three wives, and asked him how he reconciled that with the Republican line about the "sanctity of Marriage" and "family values". His response? "I don't know anything about Newt's personal life".

Yeah, people who know every damn thing there is to know about Obama's personal life can't be bothered to learn even the most basic facts about Newt.

You mean like Bill Clinton?

"He's articulate and he tries to think of a conservative version of an idea that will solve a legitimate problem," Clinton told Newsmax in the exclusive interview this week, by way of explaining the Gingrich resurgence.

Clinton continued: "For example, I watched the national security debate last night. And Newt said two things that would make an independent voter say, 'Well, I gotta consider that.'

The former president also credited Gingrich for innovative thinking in his plan to give workers an option to invest their Social Security retirement funds privately. Gingrich said there should be a guarantee, so that, if markets nose-dive, workers would not receive less than they would have received under the old Social Security system.

"See, that's a new wrinkle on this," Clinton said, crediting Gingrich for thinking out of the box. "So he's always . . . I think he's doing well just because he's thinking, and people are hungry for ideas that make some sense."

The endorsement is newsworthy not because the paper often predicts correctly, but because Romney has spent so much time and money courting it, not to mention, it's influential in New Hampshire and *has* had an important impact on the primary in that state. If Newt wins New Hampshire out from under Romney, well, that would be pretty funny.
