Huh. She's always annoyed me as a commercially-packaged auto-tuned pop product.

Good for her. She moved up a few notches in my opinion.

Don't get too excited. I'm sure she was just looking at a marketing opportunity.

The last few generations missed out on the protest music genes, it seems.

Rage Against the Machine screaming the same lyrics over and over doesn't cut it, alas.

Likely along the lines of "shut up and sing" while telling us what Frank Miller thinks of OWS.

"However, Miley Cyrus, who turned 19 on Wednesday, celebrated her birthday in a party, which was hosted by her friend Kelly Osbourne at the Beacher's Madhouse inside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. She was joined by her father Billy, mother Tish Cyrus, sister Brandi, boyfriend Liam Hemsworth."

I wonder how much that cost. I suppose the 99%ers are good enough to have a song written about them, but ole' Miley is too busy having huge soirees thrown by her celebrity friends to actually show up at a flea party event.

The 1% owns Miley, whether it was Disney or currently Hollywood records. Her record company most likely threw the party and she will have to work off the cost with sales from her next album.

I don't know -
"Kill the mean old bankers",
"Hey! Those mean old people only want to give me an entry level job" and
"No corporate money to pay for elections"

don't have the same ring as:

"War - HUH! - what is it good for" and
"Come on, people now, smile on your brother..."

Ok, the goals are somewhat amorphous. We protested Vietnam because dying pointlessly seemed a bad idea. We marched for Civil, Gay and Women's rights because the system was unfair. This is a Howard Beale movement. "we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore".

Well on the bright side she's probably a little bit better than the Right Brothers.

I would have enjoyed seeing the faces of the guys that sang "Bush Was Right" on the days after the 2006 and 2008 republican massacries.

lololol.

See, it's funny, because we live in a society that requires everyone to acquire tens of thousands of dollars of debt in order to even apply for jobs which are no longer offered so that CEOs can increase the size of their benefits package, and people that have a grievance against this are just self-entitled douchebags like that veteran that got shot in the head by police, so their suffering is mockable.

Everyone calls today's protesters selfish.

Protests in the 60s didn't end when the war ended. They ended when the DRAFT ended.

People were selfish then, too. You protest because your situation sucks. Which it does for an awful lot of people right now.

I think the reason that they didn't get sued had to do with the fact that nobody bought the song.

To be truthful I think one guy did a bulk purchase. Probably the same guy that buys those Regnery door stops.

Dylan's best music had jack all to do with protesting. He was a pop star.

And it is "relevant" to note that people still have this 1963 version of him in mind when this stupid subject gets brought up. Again.
