"I had to give myself the right to suck and write some music that maybe isn't so great"

Isn't that what Aerosmith has always done?

No. That started at about 1987, when they should have stopped.

Anyway, Steve-oh, mission accomplished.

What did TFA have to do with Aerosmith?

And Journey has always sucked. There, I said it.

Fark all the haters, I love Journey. Lights, Wheel In The Sky, Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin', Who's Crying Now, Don't Stop Believing, Separate Ways (Worlds Apart), Open Arms....love 'em all.

Never was into Journey, really, but followed Aerosmith a little bit in HS. It's easy to confuse those two, though, because of Aerosmith's lead guitarist Joe Perry.

I too thought the Steve Perry mentioned in the headline was Steven Tyler (but it made sense because A-smith hasn't written anything good in decades).

Actually, picturing Tyler Perry in his transvestite character playing guitar for Aerosmith is the best mental image I've had all day.

And it only becomes funnier when you picture him replacing Neal Schon in Journey.

I was momentarily confused because I read that as "Rick Perry". Carry on...

I don't understand... is he getting back with Journey, or what? He can't possibly still hit those high notes.

Who's he kidding?... Working on the Greatest Hits package has always been a part of the Rock Star Retirement Plan™.

Even my friends in a fairly serious Journey tribute band (the lead singer has a Steve Perry wig and everything) are sick of Don't Stop Believing.

Just sayin'.

Haters gonna hate. I have a soft spot for Journey, not everything they did, but quite a bit. Especially the Greg Rolie era:

Just The Same Way (new window)

Remember that Eddie Murphy bit about Italians driving Camaros and blasting Journey? Yeah. Exactly like that.

They still do that.

And, I love Journey. Always did.

Even the pre-Perry prog type stuff that some swear is superior music. I don't, but it is good.

Neil Schon is one of the best guitarists, ever. He does not get his due.

Exactly right. The Greg Rolie era is what I play the most. My favorite band in HS and still tugs at the heart today. Love me some Steve Perry. If I had been born a woman I'd been throwin' my panties on stage just like all the rest of the ladies..
