An OPP officer located the vehicle,

That's naughty.

so you can get a blowjob while driving but not watch tv or use a handheld phone?

I figured they already had been.

I remember reading years ago that driving-simulator tests said reading while driving, with the reading material projected as a windshield overlay, was actually less distracting than talking on a cell phone while driving.

/No, they weren't about to suggest putting readers in every car.

What's wrong with watching TV while driving? I love driving behind people with a DVD player going in the back seat and watching it.

I'm already freaked out enough by projected speed on windshields.

I used to crawl back into the sleeper and take a 10 - 15 minute nap while driving, but watching TV, that's just crazy

See, in Canada, we'll nark you off. HOWEVER!!! There is a HUD video system that overlays over the windshield. The 'focus' point is a mile in front of your vehicle. Looking at the dash? Out of focus. actually, it disappears from your peripheral also. Focusing on a car .9 miles ahead of you? again, you have to focus your vision at 1 mile before it's visible.

Military jet pilots have been using this overlay system for decades.

And yet, every day I drive the highway and see morons in cars who camp out in the lane next to these behemoths. Half of these guys haven't slept in 36 hours, the other half are on booze, pills, weed, meth, crack, crank, smack, pcp, and/or jenkum.

I've had cruise control on, stood and held the wheel with left hand and dug around a storage compartment on a Freightliner Columbia. But watch a movie? Hell no!

Oh lighten up everyone, what with the Navitron Autodrive system truckers don't even need to watch the road!

Hell, you could load up a movie on your ipod and put it on a dash/windshield mount and watch it.

As fark's resident truck driver I would like to plug Graphic Audio (new window) as my personal choice of driving entertainment.

I think that might count as entertainment.

Hard to prove if the evidence gets swallowed

When I clicked the link, I got a message asking me if I wanted to "upgrade" from Firefox to Internet Explorer 9. That's like asking someone if they want to "upgrade" from a Harley to a Roketa.

TV is boring. Read a good book and improve your mind.

Meh, I used to play a game when I was trucking. I would wait till a car started pacing me near my window and if there was a passenger that would look up at me, I would just stand up and walk back in the sleeper for a few secs and just giggle thinkin about the look on their face.

/no meth here

2011-11-26 03:47:15 AM
As a trucker myself allow me to say two things:

1. Not the first time. Except last year it caused fatalities.

2. Yeah some truckers are bad and this guy was awful, but holy crap you little four wheelers scare the crap out of me every day. No blinker using, four lane changing, tailgating, no headlights having, non low beam using, non merging, swerving while texting and trimming the forest so you can see the tree kinda folks. And that's just the PG stuff.

/226952. The miles we ran last year alone were chock full of that and so, so much more.

No...you are wrong.
/ Trucker for 19 years
//randomly drug tested
///70's trucker movies are not representative of the industry
////I'd advise all 4 wheelers to stay away from me, it makes my job easier not to have these idiots around me

It can be awesome, but the narrators vary widely from the truly spectacular to the snooze-a-riffic. Read the reviews. For the amount of entertainment you get it is quite a deal. We buy the credit packs and download to an ipod.

I once saw a dude watching TV in his car while on the freeway in rush hour traffic. I mean come on, you can't stare at the road for the whole time you're commuting between home and work?

2011-11-26 11:57:52 AM
...prop the book on your dashboard, and hope for the best. No Twilight, though. I've heard it's distracting.
