I've been trying to figure it out but I really don't see how an Arkansas victory causes "BCS chaos". If LSU wins, they win the division and (probably) the conference, and we get a likely matchup of SEC vs SEC in the championship game. If Arkansas wins, they move up to probably #2, Alabama wins the division and (probably) the conferance, and we get......a likely matchup of SEC vs SEC in the championship game.

I'm really not seeing chaos in any of those scenarios.

Wouldn't Arkansas move to #1...and how would Alabama win the conference, if they already lost to LSU?

I think in a 3-way tie, it's either the highest BCS ranking, or the head-to-head record of the two teams with the highest BCS ranking. Since Alabama beat Arkansas, and I would assume Arkansas would move to #2 and not #1, Alabama should win either scenario.

The 'experts' say even if the Hogs win, they won't jump to #1. They are saying they will be lucky to jump to #2.

If Arkansas and 'Bama both win today, 'Bama will more than likely still be ranked higher than Arkansas and therefore would go to the championship game.
The only way the hogs go to the championship game is if the BCS looks like this:

Arkansas
LSU
'Bama

I agree entirely. I have yet to watch a single BCS game though. There have been matchups I'd like to see and teams I like in the games, but I settle for post game highlights. I'll watch any of the other bowl games, but the only thing I can do is not contribute to the BCS ratings and encourage other people to not watch it either.

ESPN has already decreed that any teams playing for the national championship other than [insert any 2 SEC West teams] is a travesty.

YouWinAgainGravity: I've been trying to figure it out but I really don't see how an Arkansas victory causes "BCS chaos"

An Arkansas victory only sets up the possibility of chaos. If Arkansas beats LSU today, then the top 3 teams most likely remain Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU.

Where you get real fun is if Georgia wins the SEC Championship game, because that would put the Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl. By rule, the SEC is only allowed one other BCS slot, so 2 of the top 3 teams in the nation would be on the outside looking in. An Arkansas victory would aid the chaos because it would mean Arky was the only team beat LSU, who was the only team to beat Alabama, who was the only team to beat Arkansas. A nice little recursive argument.

Igor Jakovsky: At least put it I'm prime time so jackasses like me who have to work on post Thanksgiving Friday can watch it

Probably because most people don't work today....and you'll rarely see a major sporting event or even popular TV show on any given Friday night because people go out on Friday nights.

Chupacabra Sandwich: VA tech at 5 (too high) and Oregon at 10 (too low) are worse.

Yeah, absolutely.

I think the '2 per conference' rule only comes into play when selecting at-larges and is trumped by '1v2' and automatic berths. If UGA wins the SEC, but the top 2 slots in the BCS are still occupied by SEC teams, then the SEC would technically be able to have 3 total teams in the BCS bowls (2 in the championship game, 1 in the Sugar Bowl).

The SEC championship game to me looks like the one that should be hyped up as a potential 'BCS chaos' one, this game today is just going to be a minor shuffling of teams already in the 1-2-3 slots.

Of the 13 BCS champoinship games 7 were won by SEC schools, including the last 5. So, yes, "all powerful" might be a bit strong. How about "vastly superior"?

Gentlemen, I know the events of the past week, make football seem inconsequential. In the reality of our mortality we find that everything gains a horrible perspective. Now we find ourselves in enemy territory, playing with heavy hearts, for a prize that in the minds of our adversaries, is already theirs. Let me remind you gentlemen, that what makes great men, is that great men STAND, when it is difficult to do so. So today, you warriors of the Ozarks, WALK on to that hostile field, GAZE into the eyes for your enemy, and SEE THE FEAR in their eyes when they realize that YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN A REASON TO FIGHT. WADE INTO THEIR NUMBERS! SPILL THEIR GUTS! CLAIM WHAT IS YOURS THAT WHICH THEY THINK IS ALREADY THEIRS! **HISTORY IS ON THAT FIELD TODAY, all you must do IS CHALLENGE... FIGHT.... WIN!** After this week of muted words, where tears fell like rain on the Buffalo River, TODAY GENTLEMEN, TODAY IS THE DAY OF GLORY! TODAY IS YOUR DAY! SEIZE IT!

5 straight national titles by 4 different teams, right? What team do you think is better? Oregon who was already hammered by LSU and lost at home to USC? Stanford who got their shiat pushed in at home against Oregon? OSU plays no defense and lost to an average Iowa State?

I realize why fans of teams in other conferences are sick of seeing the SEC in title games, but the title game isn't about who you WANT to see. It's about the best teams playing, and it's getting increasingly difficult for anyone to argue that those teams aren't in the SEC (well, it's easy to argue, but difficult to argue and not sound like an idiot).
