"sustainment brigade" which ad-wizard came up with using that? Why just not go with "supply"?

simply by serving in the military, you automatically become better than all those people who haven't

Typical Right Wing Doosh: simply by serving in the military, you automatically become better than all those people who haven't

Pretty much how I feel. Not knowing anything else about a person, I'll choose the veteran every time.

How is leaving heroic?

If you believe in the cause and believe that being there is heroic, then the act of leaving is not. Pick one.

Yeah, about that...it takes a high school diploma to join the US Army. (then there's the countless Soldiers with bachelors, masters, etc.) And I guess America is the only country that appreciates its soldiers?....

Now it's time to destroy all the progress you made when you had 24 hour access to a gym and nothing but time to work out and take supplements lol.

Did these people get drafted? Or did they choose to take this job where they get paid?

"Yet at the same time you are so immensely proud that they are doing this. That is something that a lot of people don't understand, a lot of the public who doesn't have anything to do with the military, simply don't understand the military way of life and the sacrifices that the families make so the public can have and to enjoy the freedoms that these soldier's service guarantees them. It's an awesome feeling to be part of this and to know that you are personally involved in it."

Exactly what freedoms were they defending? I am glad they came home safely and in time for the holidays. I do support the troops though maybe not the reasons they are sent into harms way.

But freedoms? Can someone name me a few from the invasion of Iraq. Anyone?

Because they do more than just supply? Yes, it's a major part, but they also are responsible for moving things from place to place, carting away wastes, etc. The soldiers who came back to Campbell (TFA) were with a Quartermaster company.

The medical, military police, transporters, etc., are also parts of the sustainment brigade. FWIW, there's no more individual MASH units in the Army.

I wondered how many Iraqi children these soldiers killed and my post was deleted.

Jeez, I would have made a terrible soldier ... I would have exploded about 30 seconds into that "ceremony".

These soldiers just spent 6 months away from friends and family and then they march them into a hangar and make them stand at attention during a welcome home ceremony ... make them listen to a lousy band, a prayer, a pointless welcome home speech form a commanding officer, etc. and THEN they let them talk to their families.

Getting home in time for dinner is heroic now?

Returning from deployments in the Navy we had to make sure the ship was properly moored, hooked up to shore power, shut down the engines and make sure everything was clean. Then we could leave and meet the family on the pier. Good times!

/And 10 of the 50 soldiers have jobs waiting for them.

When I got home a few weeks ago, we filed into the place where we were gonna have our ceremony, our state 1-star walked up to the podium, add was basically like "I was going to give a speech, but I know that's not something anybody wants right now. Good job soldiers, welcome home. Dismissed."
