Bloomberg sucks. The man and publication.

As long as they can't deduct that from their taxes, no problem.

"What that tells you is AT&T's auditors have now concluded that the deal is likely to fail and have forced the company to take that charge," said Will Draper, an analyst at Espirito Santo in London who advises holding Deutsche Telekom shares and doesn't have a rating on AT&T. The chances of the deal going through are now about 10 percent, down from 25 percent, he said.

As a longtime, satisfied, T-Mobile customer I'll believe it when I see it.

AT&T just learned what happens when you treat customers poorly. They vote with their wallet then they lobby against you.

Now all that's left is for AT&T to fire their advertising staff for their string of godawful commercials.

Uh, this isn't the end; they've just put their FCC application on hold while they deal with the DoJ. If they can get the DoJ to sign off, it will be much harder for the FCC to turn down the merger. It's just a castling move, not a checkmate.

I've never had them treat me bad or had poor service. For me they are just too damn expensive. I'd jump to T-Mobile in a second if I didn't have this ATT two year contract. The problem with T-Mobile (which I would accept) is their coverage isn't as good as T-Mobile. I have relatives on T-Mobile who seem to have a lot of dropped calls. I don't have that issue so much as it seems T-Mobile does.

Hmmm...

Honestly I haven't had a single dropped call with T-Mobile in ten years.

That's only possible if you're never in a situation where there is a call hand off between towers. So either you never move when on a cell phone call or you're not 100% informed on what a dropped call is. Every carrier has them and they're impossible to eliminate, it's simply a product of cellular call networks.

Problem: I understand that T-Mobile International AG (Germany) plans to discontinue North American service outright if the AT&T purchase does not go through.

Who exactly wins here?

$25 month. Unlimited Data & Texts.
300 minutes. VoiP works fine.
Android phone.

I'm getting a kick out of these replies. Seriously WTF AT&T. I had unlimited data in India on a 'business' plan that cost like $.20/day. All the rage over there is 'lifetime' prepaid cards. Meaning you pay $20 for a prepaid card that will last you until 2050. None of this "Oh, well if you don't use your minutes in 90 days, you're done" crap.

America really, really needs to nationalize their phone service. Given the political importance of the Internet, it does not deserve to be in the hands of a few companies who are too cheap to upgrade their systems. Nationalize the service, employ the out of work or underpaid American technology workers, and pay for something everybody uses.

Capitalism sucks at running nations, as the American infrastructure clearly shows.

God, I always hear these PSAs on WTOP. Support the merger and we'll create jobs! Ok, how exactly will a merger, which always involves people losing jobs by definition, create jobs? And why can't you bring jobs back from overseas right now? Why do you need a merger to do that?

Wireless Joe: Uh, this isn't the end

Uh, yes it is. This DOJ isn't going to just approve shiat because "Free Market" and "socialism". There is no improvement for the consumer here. Game over.

Also, I don't know about other cities, but I know AT&T literally paid a bunch of people at a homeless shelter in Shreveport, Louisiana to write letters in support of the merger.

Hey, leave The Records Department alone!

GAT_00: As long as they can't deduct that from their taxes, no problem.

They can and they will.

The problem is that this isnt a victory for the little guy, this was sprint paying lobbyists to stop it with verizon working as well behind the scenes, if the merger happens then sprint is toast and verizon wants to stop att from getting their hands on the spectrum bandwidths that were awarded a while back. If that happens att can segment their network like verizon does and have a more continuous signal, so in essence the little guy lost this round.

NewportBarGuy: Uh, yes it is. This DOJ isn't going to just approve shiat because "Free Market" and "socialism". There is no improvement for the consumer here. Game over.

That is where you are wrong, phase two is they will agree to spin off all their landline holdings opening up other markets while focusing solely on wireless, and since they have the capital to actually use the spectrum that t-mo paid for years ago then yes, it is an improvement for the consumer.
