Ugh my family does that. At my cousin's wedding I got "Why did you let him walk away? He was all that!"

First of all, he was my sister's ex boyfriend. Second of all, I live 250 miles away. Third of all, I don't need to hit on men 100% of the time - I can enjoy myself at a wedding. And fourth of all, just because I don't talk about the guy I'm dating with you doesn't mean he doesn't exist.

Yeah, for my entire life, I've been letting them know I feel collegiate sports is a sham, and too powerful a force economically, and socially, and schools should concentrate on education.
I leave the room when they turn on the games, and go out for a drive.
I can't seem to get them to see that if a team wins a game, the team won. "We" didn't win.
"WE" shouldn't have a rabid, fervered loyalty to a bunch of jocks and we certainly have better things to do than sit there and occasionally jump up and shout at the TV set because "WE" got robbed on that call.
Also, teaching kids to worship what organized crime uses for a cash cow is just wrong.

I can only imagine the awkward silence that will replace the normal banter about Pwnn State's career.

Plus, the new step-dad is a fundie preacher, and neo-conservative who is a birther.
