That just shows how great an actor Richard Sanders (Les Nessman) is, or was.

He makes the entire thing hysterical; you actually picture the turkeys splattering all over the parking lot just from him standing in front of a fake storefront delivering a monologue.

I would be so happy if they ever released episodes of WKRP with the original music used in each episode.

Me too. But short of one of us fans hitting the lottery and using the money to pay the outrageous licensing fees, that will never happen. At least not until the songs are in the public domain. There is just no way to make that profitable.

Ditto with Cold Case. I was always worried Homicide would have the same problem, but they managed to clear the rights to every song. I recall the Animal House DVD releases being plagued with music rights issues too.

Miami Vice dvds have all the original music, as far as I can tell.

CBS Paramount just cheaped out on WKRP. I'm hoping SHOUT Factory or someone will do that show justice. I'll pay top dollar.

public domain is dead, they'll just keep putting in extensions every 20 years.

/it gets pretty strange after that

My first time seeing that. Living in Cincinnati, it's odd seeing the opening, and recognizing the buildings and such.

Weirder is the DJ looking exactly like my uncle, and yeah, he STILL dresses like that, but this is Cincinnati, so that's not so unusual.

Our token black guys don't look like Shepherd Book with an afro, though. If I could steal one thing....

I misread the headline and heard Liam Neesons voice in my head, in a very serious tone, "I swear. As God as my witness. I thought turkeys could fly." THAT would be one hell of a remake. He will find them. And he will kill them. And then serve them up with some gravy and mashed potatoes.

Radio Paradise plays it every Thanksgiving at 6:00 PM EST.

Coming around in about 45 minutes.

I always wondered whether or not it would be feasible for a television production company to create separate music labels for each television show, scour the internet for good acts, and create a coaching/recording/mp3 distribution deal that, for services provided, retains the rights to any song produced in perpetuity for the show, promotions, and any dvd (with an appropriately structured residuals payments for each) but still allows the artists creative control, performance rights, and cd sales.

But, then again, I wondered whether or not you could create a business model using "late night advertising" time to create an independent television series and marketing of your own without having to go through a major network.

I have thoughts on many things.

*flies away*

Like this exact episode, where they had to seriously shorten this scene because they can't use Pink Floyd:

Link (new window)

(There are rips of crappy VHS versions with all the original music all over the place tho.)

/non-flying turkeys need flying pigs

My favorite holiday themed episode of any show ever. I remember watching it when it first came on. Thought my dad would fall out of his chair he was laughing so hard.
