I also find celebrities volunteering an hour of their time to serve meals to the homeless, and turning the whole thing into a photo-op, to be the height of cynicism.

If these people really gave a damn about making a difference in their community, they could donate 10% of their salary to food banks. That would still leave them will millions in income, and also greatly help food banks which are experiencing a nationwide shortage of food because of rise prices.
