Is it possible that it being an event in actual bars is new? I have only seen that recently. Of course, I've been playing for 20 years, but only played in a bar recently.

The article author is a bit sarcastic, I think.

I salute the reporter for getting his ass drunk on company expenses, then smuggling this POS of a report past the editor or whatever you call the asshat that decides what goes on the air.

We used to play a game called Mexican when I was in college in the 80s. It was a dice game where the person rolling could hide the dice from the other people. I don't remember the rules, but I do remember "the two or the one?" when the roller of the dice claimed to make that roll (you could bluff). I have no idea why it is called Mexican.

First off, making both cups means you get a full new turn with the opportunity to make both cups again. Peoople end up on streaks and really fark people over.

Second, the blow rule is the biatches blow and may only be done by females or else one may face ridicule from peers.

Re-racks are highly negotiable but must follow the same rules throughout a tourney. Any layout requested must be provided, though the shown ones are certainly the most popular. (I am partial to auto re-rack at 6 cups and then per request)

"dangerous new game of beer pong" made me think there was some new crazy variation, like vodka pong. which, y'know, isn't new either. flaming shot pong? grenade pong? beer pong with a ball of opium? how do we make this more dangerous?

/then it won't bounce

For us, double cupping (grenade, in his example) is an instant victory.

I'm pretty sure we've used just about everything. One of my most memorable is a piece of plywood placed on top of two A/C units for some outside games.

In PA, some bars have tournaments, but they're not allowed to make you drink, so it's water in the cups (that gets dumped out), and everyone just drinks while they play.

My friend is a nurse and for some reason he likes bear pong. He also had 3 bottles if ipecac in his bathroom. One night they asked me why I don't play beer pong. I let them know that the game is boring and suggested to learn a new game called "sudden death bear pong". One cup has Ipecac in it vs beer.

/They refused to play.
//They were almost drunk enough to try it

Yes, that's what we called beer pong in high school. This thing being described here we called Beirut.

Saw that graphic and wondered if someone was going to correct it. biatches blow rule in my games is ridicule from everyone else, man or woman. We also give one re-rack per match whenever they want it (before the throw).

For tailgating, we do 6 cups, 2 beers. It helps the game move quicker. We also usually have a jager cup back middle.

Cadillac Ranch in downtown Nashville had a beer pong table set up in the front room by the window as early as 2006, if I recall correctly (or whatever year Automation Fair was in town around then).

We played that at Ohio State, same timeframe, along with the standards: quarters, Chug Boat, beer pong, etc.

you mean theres another way to do it? Actually, at Wisconsin, i was amazed at the creativity of some of the tables. One was a a mini (too scale) football field. My old roommate and I built one designed to loo like an Audi R8. We take out beer pong seriously in Madison.

And there were more sets of rules than i could keep track of. Most parties had a set of house rules posted somewhere to keep track.

But now that I'm out of college, playing beer pong is a "sign" of "alcoholism"

When we tailgated in college, we'd play beer pong with trash cans and volleyballs. Sink one in and shotgun a beer.

OK, but that is still "new" compared to the "hey, we were all doing this in high school 25 years ago" reaction that most of us have here.

For us too. That includes if you have the cup in your hand after picking it up, but before you drink the beer.

Baltimore Style:

1. Elbow rule - yeah that's a given but sometimes waived for the really petite or just (exceedingly sexy) female competitors
2. Guys finger girls blow. Ball swirls, if you're a dude you can finger it out. If you're a girl you better start blowing lol
3. Two in a row same turn - balls back you get another shot
4. If the ball doesn't fall off the table you can attempt to retrieve it. But you have to take a behind the back shot. Some houses the rule allows the girls to shoot normal instead of behind the back
5. If you bounce the ball on the table and it lands into the cup that cup plus one next to it are removed.
6. One re-rack per game
7. Island rule - if there is one cup lonesome not touching any other cups and you call island and land it - you get that cup plus another cup (nearest to it generally)
8. If a contestant is holding a drink in their hand and you shoot the ball into their drink that's end game, doesn't have to be called or anything
9. Always check the house rules there is always some sort of wacky special rules in every house. Knocking over cups, i.e., have to drink a whole beer then put the cup back in place where it was, etc.

2011-11-24 01:12:23 PM
And island can be called only once per game per person.

Hah, no but my freshman year roommie was, odd that.

This was UW-Madison in '86. Dude across the hall had a board with all the rules on it. At the top of it was "NO TABLETALK MOTHERFARKER".

Beer pong is not a real drinking game. If you're really good at it, you don't actually have to drink anything. I believe that to be a good drinking gamer, you have to be able to drink. Flip cup is a good example that balances drinking ability and tactile skills.
