I'll bet he was violent or rioting.

That's one of the tougher police merit badges to get. There just aren't enough disabled sexagenarians riding around on bicycles.

Yeah, a shiatload of details were left out.

Here is the original article that explains how officers told him to stop and he did not.

How the hell should the cop know that?

THere is a guy on a bike who looks like he's drunk and is not obeying the cops orders.

What would you do?

.....
What a reasonable human being would do to determine whether this man needed help or some other intervention, is get ahead of the man and establish eye contact. Cop has a *greater* duty of care to establish what was going on with this old man than even a regular citizen. He sould be sacked: there was NO justification for injuring an old man on a bike.

Stun first, question later? You think a reasonable person would think like that? Cops do, but most of them are civvie hating assholes.

I wouldn't taze him for starters.

Stun guns are awesome though... just sayin

I'll bet in hindsight, the cops wish they would have just given him a soft tap on the noggin with a night stick

Holy mother of farking god. You are right, the original story didn't say they killed him! You farkers think "non-lethal" weapons are ok to use if you want to get someone's attention or they are sitting on the ground not listening to you.

/fark you, asshole.

2011-11-24 12:09:31 AM
Was he on the road when there were side walks on each side?

2011-11-24 12:10:27 AM
(From the article) "Scotland Neck Mayor James Mills..."

I wonder if that's a misprint and it should have read, "Red Neck Mayor James Mills..."

They killed a disabled man because he didn't respond to them. He didn't attack them, he farkING DIDN'T RESPOND!

2011-11-24 12:11:09 AM
Probably went deaf from having the horns blaring behind him everyday as he rode his bike at 10mph on the road.

Even if he couldn't hear, how the hell do you not see the patrol car next to you with an officer hanging out the window, screaming at you? There's more to this story than what we're reading.

2011-11-24 12:12:51 AM
Perhaps he was hiding a weapon in his artificial leg?

2011-11-24 12:13:12 AM
That cop will truly regret his two weeks of paid leave while the incident is looked into.

They should hire that cop to police to OWS protests. FARK independents would love him.

I haven't seen anything that said he died from the fall or the stun gun, he could just as easily died from eating his drugs.

Use a stun gun on him? Really? That's your next logical choice?

We really need a cop to kill a little girl. That is about the only thing that would bring about change, or more importantly, get people away from American Idol long enough to put some conviction behind a cause/complaint.

I'm gonna send an email to the DA, mayor, and police. Won't mean fark-all but I am not taking this cap lying down anymore. Even if the "act" is a bullshiat email that will get ignored.

2011-11-24 12:18:54 AM
It's not the fact that the cop may not have done anything wrong, but the fact that this probably will never go before a jury to let them decide. I'd bet Internal Affairs will most likely clear the cop of wrongdoing and the DA will decline to press charges.

I'll bet the concerned citizen who called in thinking "that man might have been hurt falling down, he might be drunk. I should call it in so he doesn't get hurt any worse" feels pretty bad about now.
I didn't know that biking drunk was punishable by sidewalk execution either.

So he's completely deaf and so disabled that he can't process the fact that there's a cop car beside him but he's out riding a bike in the farking street? Like I said, there's a lot more to this story than what we're getting. It's OK though, this is fark, try and convict the officer without all the facts.

Obviously, this wasn't in Seattle, because:

A) Bicyclists get to do whatever the fark they want,

and

B) Our cops just out and out shoot old, hard of hearing people.

No, it was hitting his head from the fall on the bike he was riding that killed him. And we only have the story from the officer side.

If he were not disabled at all and he was just riding down the street ignoring the cops...you think it is ok to farking shock him because he is riding his bike. Now that cops have "non-lethal" weapons they seem to have zero compulsion to actually NOT use them.

Yeah. First you hit him with the club. Then, when he screams and covers his head, you yell, "Stop resisting!" and hit him with the pepper spray. Then, when he's curled in a ball, you bust out the stun gun or Taser(tm)(c)(r). When he's laying on the ground with 3 officers sitting on his back claiming he can't breathe, don't fall for it. Obviously, he can breathe or he wouldn't be able to talk. That's when you juice him again.

We need ourselves a dexter type figure that just goes around tazering to death cops that kill innocent citizens and are exempted by IA.

What do you think should happen when you disobey the order of an officer to stop?
