As soon as I heard about the adoptions and foster kids I had an alarm bell ringing in my special place, but I was kind of hoping none of it was true, and that Aston Kutcher was going to jump out and yell "PUNKED!" at some point.

Has Fark already covered the story of one of the boy who was so mercilessly harassed by his classmates and his teachers for "getting Paterno fired" that he had to leave school?

The evil of Sandusky seems comprehensible to me. Criminals do horrific things. But, the people who think all this should have been swept under the rug for the sake of a football program are the kinds of monsters that I didn't believe -- or didn't want to believe -- actually existed.

I have been aware, tangentally, of two families in which the woman/wife of the pedo stated that she was shocked, SHOCKED that her hubby, who had never had sex with her, was having sex with boys, including their adopted boys.

They're nearly the same as spouses that enable alcoholics. Over 50% of their brain knows what's going on, but it denies that information to the 20% of the brain that makes rational conclusions. What's amazing is, how do pedos know that the woman they've chosen will enable their lifestyle? Do they? Or is it just coincidental?

They choose younger, docile, usually religious, women who see the husband as the leader of the family, He in turn either gives her everything she wants (including adopting kids) or beats her into submission about it - either way, the kids lose.

It works pretty much the same way with alcoholics. The stigma and legal ramifications of getting discovered is a lot less though...

I'd much rather have an alcoholic father than a pedophile father.

Marcus Aurelius: Mount Gay rum would sound rather naughty if the first word were a verb, wouldn't it?

I bet it's Sandusky's favorite.

The evil of Sandusky seems comprehensible to me. Criminals do horrific things. But, the people who think all this should have been swept under the rug for the sake of a football program are the kinds of monsters that I didn't believe -- or didn't want to believe -- actually existed.

I really wish I hadn't read this before heading out. That just depressed the shiat out of me and that was the first time I had heard of it. I'm a huge football fan, both NFL and college and that is just sick. I don't even need a link cause I could definitely see that happening.

It's worse than that. According to a NY Times piece today, the grandmother of a kid on the high school football team yelled at Victim 1's mom. From the article: "She never asked me if the charges were true. She just finished up with, 'Thanks a lot. Now our football team is going to lose and it's all because of your son.'" Yes, a grandmother. Not some stupid high school kid. A grown adult. High school kids are stupid and while not justified, you kind of expect them to be jerks. But an adult? How would that grandmother have liked it if her grandson was one of the boys that Sandusky raped?

It was reported at the very beginning that he was not allowed near his grandkids already. Somehow it got lost in the shuffle and I didn't hear it mentioned again, but I distinctly recall hearing this his own kids had kept him away form the grandkids for a while now.
