Why is it the articles greenlit solely for a narrow, one-joke headline rarely have lengthy threads?

dervish16108: No surprises there. This is the Long island Failroad we're talking about.

Seriously.

It never ceases to amaze me how horrible the conductors are for the LIRR. Any real RR company would have had someone at the controls that could have stopped that train in time, or at the very least swerved when someone appeared on the tracks.

If LIRR was smart they'd add flashing lights and gates to the crossings to warn people, and put 10' fences along the tracks anywhere else, so people know when and where to cross. Until they correct these glaring problems they must be held responsible for people who merely try to cross the tracks and go about their day.

I'm a daily LIRR rider. They already have lights at the crossings and fences on the side of the tracks (though not fences everywhere, I'll give you that). But in a lot of cases, it doesn't matter. If someone really wants to get in front of a train, they're going to do it one way or another.
