what_now: What the fark is Condoleeza Rice doing on the 700 club? Honestly?

Remember, all members of the Right-Wing Industrial Conspiracy have to pretend care about Right-Wing Religious issues, up to and including hating gays.

"Mr. Cheney, how does a good Christian man like yourself feel after hearing your daughter's announcement that she's a lesbian?"

"Look, Saddam Hussein was ... wait -- what??? I have a daughter?? And she's a what now??"

White wine
3 cheeses (yes, there's parmesan)
garlic
butter
+butter
a pinch more butter
and salt
did I mention salt?
better double down on your lipitor

While that sounds great, you need to put some bread crumbs on top and throw that bastard in the oven. Bread crumbs take mac and cheese onto a whole other level.

Definitely breadcrumbs and in the oven. The best part of mac and cheese is the crunchy topping.

Take away the wine and add milk and eggs and you have the perfect Mac and cheese

I make macaroni with extra sharp cheddar (usually Irish or New Zealand cheddar), sauteed onions and jalapeño, crushed brown mustard seeds, and a from-scratch béchamel sauce. And I'm about as white as they come (Scandinavian ancestry).

Hey racist prick article writer- attributing an innocuous behavior or custom to a race isn't racist. Thinking that such behavior is racist is itself racist. The author is racist.

I think that now that its a whole "Foodie" thing -- you know, macaroni made with Havarti cheese or whatever -- yeah. Definitely white people food.

Ordinary mac-n-cheese is just bulk poor people food though. That's why Pat doesn't know what it is.

I've never seen a church potluck dinner that didn't have at least one homespun variation of mac-n-cheese. Aricept is a hell of a drug, Pat.

/Kidding. Come on, it's close to 5:00 before a holiday.

Valid, but he was actually running.

Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Michelle Bachman are the only ones who are *actually* trying to be president in 2012.

Huntsman is laying groundwork for 2016, RONPAUL forgot his medication, and the rest of those clowns are on a book tour.

According to the link posted last night, Michelle isn't actually trying to be president either...no staff in several key states. So that leaves Mitt and Ricky.

ExperianScaresCthulhu: snuff3r: I haven't had that crap since I was a poor uni student, having moved out of my parents house for the first time. I don't know how people can call it food. Yellow, salty mush. Eugh.

Somebody fixed it wrong for you.

Mac and cheese fixed proper is good.

And................................. there are very big differences between how different regions of the US prepare their mac n cheese. Some folks might say those differences are racial. I believe it's more like cultural. Southern mac n cheese is a whole nother world from northern mac n cheese, or southwestern mac n cheese.

It's partly cultural, and largely monetary. The cheap knock-off of a knock-off box noodles are not only terrible but ironically overpriced (despite being "the cheap stuff.") According to my entirely anecdotal experiences, after you strip away the "shiatbox noodles" the South has less variety in its Mac'n'cheese recipes but more people who know how to make it. Meanwhile the North has less people who can make a good mac'n'cheese but a wider variety of recipes amongst them.

One thing is undeniable however, NOT knowing what Mac and cheese is is grounds for immediately revoking your southerner card, and with no one else interested in claiming that dumb bastard that leaves ol' Pat in a bad way.

TheXerox: On a semi related note, can't these "right wing watch" types find something better to fuss about than an old man's misunderstanding? You'd think with people like Bachmann, Gingrich, Santorum and Perry running around that they'd have better fodder for their site than this clip. This is them being lazy.

I seem to recall most Mediaite links on fark being attacks directed at the left, but really just a quick perusal of the headlines suggests they're mostly about the gossip rag BS. Content and politics being irrelevant in their drive for more "OOooooh controversy!!!!"

But I haven't really dug in, nor do I want to, so perhaps I am mistaken.

And yes, it was racist. Pat Robertson IS and old racist, but this is less about the race and far more about the hilarity of not knowing farking mac & cheese while playing the part of a "southern gentleman preacher" that he so loves to play.

2011-11-23 10:26:57 PM
No, it's eaten by poor white people who don't know any better than to give their food money to already-rich so-called preachers.

To those who have not been exposed to that tradition, it's the mental equivalent of suggesting KFC and french fries instead of turkey and potatoes. We all learned something that day.

I could see a macaroni and cheese side dish, but this is the first I've heard of it as a staple of a holiday dinner. Mac and cheese just seems to simple/common to be in a festive dinner... but I suppose mashed potatoes are too.

You should try putting mashed potatoes and mac and cheese out at holiday dinners. Way better than some of the stuff that gets on the table.
