I had a concept for a comic book that included an almost identical form of enhancement. In my plot it was developed to keep muscles from becoming atrophied during long space flights.

So any guesses on how long it will take for humans to start running the 100m dash in under 5 seconds? I call 15 years.

There's been a lot of work done on myostatin inhibitors. We know this works in dogs, cows, and mice to make them all massively muscular. I mean, if you've never seen a *ripped* dog, look up Wendy the Whippet. It ought to work in humans, too.

There don't seem to be any bad sideeffects- "double-muscled" dogs and cows have the same temperament as normal.

Does this enhancement come with a free back-of-neck barcode tattoo?

Dark Angel

Also, Friday, Soldier, Blade Runner, etc.

And, back in the real world - the Germans have a head start. No word on how red the kid's skin is.

Awesome. Now make bones that'll deal with the stress and connective tissue that isn't torn asunder when I give your mom mouth babies while hanging in a chronal flux 26 minutes from the nearest gym. Which you will get over.

How taser and pepper spray happy are the cops going to get when they start running across drunk people that have had this treatment?

\yes I would take the treatment
\\but I am short and wear loose fitting cloths so they will just think I am fat

Gene Masseth is a tweaked-out killing machine with iron for blood.

I'd leave him alone.

FTFA We can now engineer specific gene networks in muscle to give the benefits of exercise to sedentary mice."

Being sedentary myself, this intrigues me.

is that with or without prosthetic enhancement?

There must be a down side. Things that sound too good to be true usually shrink your nuts or something.

For the nerds: Cap's strength and size enhancement were nothing compared to his endurance and agility. IIRC, he was left unable to produce fatigue poisons and with ridiculous efficiency of O2 in his system. So yeah, he's bigger and taller, and able to lift 800lbs without strain in the regular Marvel U. But he can also go full out over any terrain for a loooong time. Essentially, he'd be visually... strange. You'd see ridiculous movement and speed and strength, but no huffing and puffing after exertion. No exhaustion. Always alert, and never tired. I assume he has to do something about core temperature, but who's to say Erskine's magic soda and lights didn't make him 10x better at flushing heat to the skin and out?

I'd be happy with a gene tweak to retain less calories from food consumed

I am not sick or week but I would love to have this.

What is the effect on cardiac muscle ?

Also can you guys work on a way to repair my back while your at it ?

2011-11-23 10:46:37 AM
I'll be honest, yeah the increased muscle is awesome but I really want the increased cold tolerance. I'm from Austin, cold weather for me is like 50 degrees during the fall-winter. During the summer if the temperature drops to mid 80's to low 90's that feels a little chilly. Plus I have a weird allergic reaction to cold temperature where I break out in a rash.

Not being fat cured my plantation fasciitis. Not making accusations, but if you are, that helps a ton.
