It's all the cops' fault for not catching them before they broke.

"He has always been somebody who believes in democracy and standing up for what you believe in and I know that he was excited at the opportunity to be in Egypt right now. I also know that he is an extreme pacifist," she told CNN's Brooke Baldwin. "He would never do anything to inflict violence on somebody else."

Agreed. Lighting shiat on fire isn't violent. It is just good wholesome fun.

You guys do realize there's a renewed full scale revolt happening in Tahrir right? Dozens dead, thousands wounded. 3 people have died from suffocation from some no-label tear gas they're using .

I hope these kids realized that they are rioting in a country not known for it's toleration of 'youthful indiscretion'.

I suspect that things are going to end very badly for them unless the State Dept applies a lot of pressure and very soon. Presuming that the State Dept. even knows who to talk to right now, and if the people they are talking to even care what the US thinks.

On second thought, I suspect things are going to end very badly for them.

I learned that that hard way the last time I was chased by an angry mob in Egypt . (True story ) Of course mobs were so much angrier back in those days .

Massive riots, I would say suffocation from trampling is more likely.

They need to take a play out of Napoleon's playbook. Urban design for riot suppression.

"I can't remember seeing his face look like that," said Nicole Sweeney, whose brother Derrik Sweeney is among those detained. "He looks absolutely terrified."

That's his "OMG - When do I respawn??" face.

The guy in the video has done some of the best ground work covering everything in Egypt since the initial protests.

After a little time in prison they will "Walk like an Egyptian".

Hell, subby, things might turn out that the first statement ends up being true here in the near future.

Well, to be fair, at least they were taking part in a serious protest, unlike the OWS wannabes.

Dumbass?
You mean farking heroic.
It seems in Egypt they do not tolerate "security forces" beating and killing people unprovoked as is so common in these student's country of origin.
We need more American heroes like these.
I'd say it's a shame they're in Egypt, but it isn't since they were there to help out those who desire freedom.

You'd think by now we'd know better than to take police reports about alleged protestor violence at face value, especially police in a country that had been a police state for decades. From the look of this thread, though, apparently not.

Mithiwithi: You'd think by now we'd know better than to take police reports about alleged protestor violence at face value, especially police in a country that had been a police state for decades. From the look of this thread, though, apparently not.

The protesters are always non-violent and undeserving of the abuse they're given by police and/or military in other countries.

HERE, however, if protesters are peppersprayed or cock-punched by the cops, then it's their own fault, and they could always have gone somewhere else not so protesty if they didn't want to get hurt.

Not doing weird shiat in weird countries is usually life lesson number... well, the number isn't important, just save your ass the trouble of finding what some other people consider punishment.

Well, at least they tried to lead by example. More than I can say for the FARK leftists who consider throwing pies at Bill Gates the height of bravery.

I dunno...either way, you could disappear for years and nobody could ever find you again.
