I've never even held a gun, but even I know there's 2 basic rules of handling one:

1) The gun is always loaded.

2) Never point the gun at someone unless you intend to kill him or her.

Inspecting huh? "Hey, look down the barrel and see if there's a bullet in it, if there is we shouldn't play with it."

The kid shoulda been bobbin' and weavin'.

Change the word "inspecting" to "playing with."

You know, maybe it's because I grew up around guns, or maybe just the fact I wasn't RETARDED, but common sense and the sense of self preservation at the age of sixteen should kick in enough to tell you not to point a gun at your head while fondling the trigger, especially when you don't know how to clear the gun of ammo.

Well, it was all fun and games.

no, that is not what happened.

I've looked down the barrel of a gun. Of course the barrel wasn't attached to the rest of the gun at the time.

How else are you going to check that the bore hasn't been fouled, or fix really difficult 'stove pipes'? Sometimes you need to look down the barrel.

Well it was Florida so Im guessing they were playing russian roulette without a revolver.

That always make me laugh. There aren't many accidental discharges, just negligent ones.

You caught that, too, huh? The mental image of an inanimate object losing its shiat and letting the hammer fall on this kid without any outside influence was a little hard to conjure.

Otherwise Just Fine: How else are you going to check that the bore hasn't been fouled, or fix really difficult 'stove pipes'? Sometimes you need to look down the barrel.

A stovepipe would be cleared from the breech end.

To check the bore you would need to, at the very least, have the action open in order to get some light through it. If possible you'd remove the bolt and look from the breech end.

You mean like, taking the whole trigger assembly thingie out first, as well as the magazine if such exists, and any ammo?

Not mention leaving the booger hook off the farking trigger and not pointing the boom hole at things that would not be improved by a big farking hole?

A few questions:

Am I the only one withholding a guess on this kids survival prospects until the firearm has been revealed?

What 'perks' did he have equipped?

Did he do it doing a jumping 360º with a sniper rifle?

Did his friends call his sexual orientation into question and accuse him of glitching?

Bill_Wick's_Friend: Yet another gun keeping the citizenry safe and free.

True. It did protect the citizenry from an idiot that doesn't know how to safely handle a firearm.

To strip my Glock to clean it, I have to pull the trigger first. I check it several times to verify it's clear, but it STILL makes me nervous "firing" it in the house. I still point it at the dirt just case.
