Another one? There are some TV shows with less episodes than 2011 GOP debates.

When will they start airing reruns on Comedy Central?

The more of these they do, the less electable they look.

Will Herman Cain have to answer another question about those sexual harassment allegations? Who will Michelle Bachmann attack? Will Jon Huntsman make more bad jokes? Will Ron Paul get ignored by the moderators?
Find out next time, on an exciting new episode of "Derp."

This will make 11 GOP debates, or the number of Firefly episodes aired before cancellation.

I said this before this shiat started, that the Republicans would find having this many debates was idiotic of them.

How do you let a Republican win: Let him talk for 30 seconds.

How do you let a Republican lose: Let him talk for 2 minutes.

Republicans ideas sound great if you don't think about them but then when you get into details people realize how idiotic they are.

2011-11-22 04:36:52 PM
The best thing is, instead of making the candidates more popular, it's making them all look worse and worse.

Every time they speak, they look less and less electable. All Obama has to do to win is just run ads made form debate footage. No commentary, nothing, just run it word for word and 2012 is his on a silver platter.

2011-11-22 04:37:40 PM
And what exactly do Republicans know about foreign policy? Ask them about Libya and watch the hilarity, or if Cuban is a language, their vice presidential nominee couldn't comprehend South Africa was a country.

They are children, John McCain held secret knowledge of where Osama was and didn't tell us!

Republicans=FAIL

Obama is completely wrecking their national security angle. the man keeps getting results, and they can't stand that. The GOP is suppose to be the ones who are tough on defense, not some spineless Democrat.

Instead, the man our enemies fear is Oabam, or as they call him in the middl east, Shiek al Boomheadshot.

I don't know about "great political theater". If it was nothing but a cynical parody, or a satirical production about the state of politics then maybe I could enjoy it.

As it's simply a broadcast of reality, it's pretty damn depressing and a tad bit frightening.

I'd contribute more, but i'm too busy weeping uncontrollably at the whargarble spewed. At this point they are no longer debates, more like a circle jerk of who can say the most offensive and outlandish things while still getting an undulation of applause. makes me sick. I'm praying to the political gods that next year brings a geat smiting to the "conservative anti-intellecualism movement." And is it too much to ask Huntsman and Johnson to hang around the party just a bit longer to pick up the pieces?

I think the plan is to let the extreme conservatives talk so much that the majority of the base will realize they are unelectable on a national level. This is step one of moving people past their distaste to actually vote for a moderate candidate like Romney.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of extreme conservatives in the running, and they just keep coming up with crazy shiat to say.

2011-11-22 04:52:45 PM
Talk all the shiat you want, I'm glad they brought Hee Haw back. The new format is fresh and exciting.

There are actual moderates running. They just never get invited to the debates and always lose GOP opinion polls. "Let's remove all taxes on rich people!" is not a moderate position.

The guy who believes there should be a constitutional amendment to declare life begins at conception is now moderate? (I know it's hard to keep track of Romney's current positions on issues they change so rapidly)

Given the number of Republican debates there have been, it would be good if there could be just one with the President and a group of Dems debating issues.

Sadly that isn't ever going to happen, as it might lead to Obama actually being called to account by someone with a shred of credibility and the Dems certainly don't want that to occur.

Romney senior New Hampshire adviser Tom Rath tells CBS News the ad is "exactly what we want."

"They were using McCain's words to make fun of McCain. And we're using the exact same technique," he said.

Pressed on whether it was unfair to lop off the top of Mr. Obama's comments - which would show the president was quoting the McCain camp - Rath said, "He did say the words. That's his voice."

He then [suggested] that the more people discuss the ad, the better it is for the Romney campaign.

Observing how differently a candidate acts when debating to win the support of their base as opposed to the general populace gives significant insight into what they genuinely believe in as opposed to what they say they believe in to garner support.

There have been plenty of GOP debates to provide that insight into the GOP candidate for 2012 and ammo to hold them to account should they start shifting positions come the general, but it looks like Obama will get to dodge this process. Since he has a particular tendency for centre-right governing, I for one would like to see him in a debate with a couple of other Dems to see just how much he'll shift on issues.
