I had four of these pukes on my team after the draft. I still have Mendenhall around, mostly as a painful reminder as to how much I suck at drafting.

Thank goodness for SiriusXM Fantasy Sports radio. Some of their insight helped me for sure. Like.. "don't draft a QB early"..and "grab Ray Rice"

4th overall pick in a 12-man PPR league. My picks, in order (best I can recall)

Rice -start
Gore -start when not hurt
V Jack -start..most of the time
Stevie Johnson -meh
W. Welker - stud
N. Washington -alternate with V Jack.. have always made the right choice though
T. Hightower - dropped after injury
J. Freemon - sits
R. Gronkowski -stud
M. Stafford -stud
M. Crosby -it's a kicker.. whatever.. but I know I won't take a kicker from a team that alway scores TD's and never goes for FG's!

I play situational defenses as need be

I'm 9-1...and KILLING people.

/yes, it's D&D for jocks.. but I also played D&D as a kid.. and I'm still a jock. Hah!

Just dumped Hillis this week (for Kevin Smith!); I have to keep Vick around. Oh, and Andre Johnson wasn't even on the list (w/no Schaub, who knows what to expect out of him).

I have the most points in my fantasy league by 50 points thanks to my running back core, yet I'm in 6th place in my league. Why does everyone bring their A game when they play against my team. Oh well, as long as I can make it to the playoffs with Murray, Gore and LeCoy healthy, I will still have a chance to win.

Vick, Hillis and Mike Williams were all overrated to start the season. But I didn't see CJ2K and to an extent Mendenhall as being as bad. Or Gates.

Fantasy football is won and lost on the waiver wire, which is why I was so pissed off that all 3 of my leagues put all free agents on the wire from Sunday-Tuesday. I normally rock at the waiver wire because I can watch all the games and grab backups and upstarts the fastest (like Peyton Hillis last year, who kicked ass for all 3 of my teams).

This year, when I lost Hightower for the year and Blount has been mostly ineffective as my RB2 and RB3, I would normally have just picked up Murray or Laurent Robinson and been just fine, but because I'm always #10-12 on the wire, I haven't been able to get any of those guys, and I'm languishing towards the bottom in all of my leagues.

In summation, fark everything and everyone.

I only own one of those guys, Mike Williams. Luckily he was not a high pick and has just been somebody I look at occasionally before starting Victor Cruz over him.

GimpyNip: Don't draft a QB early isn't "great" advice. The top-5 scorers this season are all QBs. If Aaron Rodgers and Ray Rice are both on the board in the first round and you take Rice over Rodgers than you made a bad pick. It depends on the QB/RB available.

Part of fantasy is luck too. Having Fred Jackson fall to you is gret luck as is suplimenting your team through waivers. I.E. let's say you went RB in the first round, you still could have jumped on the Newton train after week one and picked him off waivers. He's the number 2 scorer in Fantasy. You can also get guys like Murray & Cruz off of waivers.

Took Rodgers w/ my first pick. I always go QB first, and just happen to luck up on a productive RB later, because by the time I draft again, all the top-ranked RBs are gone. This year I landed Fred Jackson when no one else (including me) knew what he was capable of. He's been a little off his past couple of games, so what happens? I snatched Michael Bush as a FA once DMC went down, and he's been killing it. KILLING IT. 9-2 in my league and in 1st place, first winning season ever.

Well, 2 of the 7 are on my fantasy team (Mike Williams & Mendenhall), and I'm still in 2nd place of a 16-team league.

My best fantasy moves have come from listening to local braodcasters randomly. Before Denarius Moore's breakout game 2 weeks ago, the Raiders postgame broadcasters mentioned a bond between Moore and Palmer in practice. I also picked up Kevin Smith (although didn't start him last week) based on Schwartz's comments (he's a no BS kind of guy).

The lack of including Ochocinco is inexcusable. Sure, he gets honorable mention - but compared to Mike Williams and Roddy White - this dude has done NOTHING with the hype he got preseason. I don't know that he's even caught a single pass all season, has he?

Tell your 12-team PPR for me that they're terrible. Allowing an owner to draft Rice and then Gore on the way back up is inexcusable, PPR, or no.

Meh I disagree. Last season I was 9th out of 12 teams and I did take Rodgers.

The difference between a stud QB and a average QB isn't very much like 6 points a game. think Brees vs. Matt Ryan.

The difference between a stud RB and avg RB is more like 10 points.

think AP vs. Shonne Greene.

I like to go top RB then top WR RB WR and pick up a decent QB in later rounds.

Vick is 19th in FF PTS. So he has second round value. I think the author is just butthurt about his last 2 weeks of 9 PT games. Even if you took him in the first round it isn't like you'd be tanked by him. You'd have to have drafted poorly in the other early rounds.

I grabbed him in the first, and don't think he has been horrible. He more than makes up for his fumbles and INTs with rushing yards. Was he worth the 3rd pick I used? Probably not. But in a keeper league with all the other top five QBs being kept there was little choice. And it worked out WAY better than CJ or Hillis.

Why would someone make that trade with you? Nelson is worth a lot more than Bush & Moore. Nelson is the 5th best FF WR

Earlier in the year, I got Miles Austin off of the waivers in this league, traded him and Brandon Jacobs, for Reggie Bush and Calvin Johnson, then traded DeAngelo Williams, Eli Manning, and Dwayne Bowe for Arian Foster.

Jamaal Charles (injured for the entire season in the first or second game)
Andre Johnson (Injured for the bulk of the season)
Peyton Hillis (See above, but also add that he sucked)
Pitt defence (Good, but rarely created turnovers so not that many fantasy points)
Vernon Davis (Useless)

Worst season ever.

I might have been a bit hyperbolic with 'useless', but considering how hyped Davis was as a tight end pick and how... limited the receiving options were in San Fran, I expected him to put up far better numbers.

/On a positive note, I was able to pick up Newton, Jordy Nelson and Fred Jackson off waivers

I am so with you. I have a 52 point lead on 2nd place team for the season, but am only 6-5. I get crap like this week, scored second most points, but lost by .68 points. Mother &%^#^$%@^%$# Patriots defense.

I don't agree. Look in almost every league and the teams that are leading are starting:
Rodgers (272 PTS)
Brees
Newton
Brady
or
Stafford

Not many people are winning leagues with Matt Ryan (158 PTS)

Of course they also have Peterson or Rice & lucked into a Fred Jackson or added Murray

LOL you prove my point. I have Stafford. took him in the 6th round. his value vs. Brady(2nd rnd possibly earlier) is closer to equal then Rice Vs. number # 12 RB (someone like Sean Greene) . So you can take Rodgers in the first round and beat me by an avg. of 4-6 points a game if i have Stafford. but I take Ray Rice and PWN your RB taken with second pick like Hillis or Greene or whomever. its about the expect bottom line.

Christ. This entire thread is people talking about their ridiculous teams that I don't know, fell off the back of a truck.

Someone above has Foster, Gore, and Rice. That's a 4 team league. Or some well-done trading.

And "wait on a QB" is often good advice. It depends on who is out there when you're picking. Obviously there's no right answer. SOMEONE has to take the first QB off the board.

But in my league, I saw that the 11th and 12th ranked QBs were Flacco and Eli Manning. Figured I could live with those choices, waiting a while, and took Eli. Boom.

/Doing fine. Toast now that AP and Fred Jackson are hurt. The Toby Gerhart era begins!

Dropped Mike Williams after 5 weeks. Rode through the first few weeks with foster hurt. Still riding through miles Austins injury.

Michael Vick, Chris Johnson, and Rashard Mendenhall.
