And, you know, the thing about Kristen... she's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When she comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until she cusses ya, and those black eyes roll over white...

I suspect she is pissing off some actual Tourettes folks. She has a choice whether our not to "curse", combined with a less-than-stellar intellect. Sheesh.

Yeah, that's not Tourette's. My nephew has a very mild form of Tourette's, which causes him to make weird clearing-his-throat noises frequently. Only a tiny percentage of sufferers have swearing problems.

This. What she has is called "poor self-control". In most people that is cured by "growing up".

My admiration is reserved for that guy with Tourettes' who competed in the skeleton at the Winter Olympics. Competing in a sport that involves hurtling headfirst down a toboggan run lying on a tiny sled while pulling five g's in the curves might actually be the one time it's an advantage to be able to swear uncontrollably.

That's just shiat people say they have who can't control themselves because they're assholes, having nothing to do with any neurological issue.

After having seen her in person, I'd totally believe she has a meth addiction. Normal people don't fidget and pick at their face like she did for 30 minutes. But tourettes? No.

That isn't Tourettes. That is called being a spoiled selfish brat with too much attention paid to them. Go away already.

She is too clean looking to be on Meth but I have noticed what you are talking about. I just think she is PAINFULLY uncomfortable in her own skin. Which unfortunately means she is probably terrible in the sack. Unless you get her high, then she'll become a freak.

She did do a good job in The Runaways, I'll give you that. I have no idea about the Twilight movies. I was flipping through channels the other night and stumbled on the first one at some point. I got to see the scene where they were running through the woods till they got up on a hill and he showed her how sparkly he was. I never knew what they hell anyone was talking about when they made fun of the sparkly vampires till then. I nearly pissed myself laughing. so yeah, I made it for about 10 minutes of that steaming pile of crap.

I have Tourette's. Compulsive swearing is called Coprolalia, which is not Tourette's, but sometimes people with Tourette's have Coprolalia as well.

Not all tweakers are raging addicts, and makeup can go a long way towards covering things up. I've known girls who take it as a "diet aid" for short bursts of time to help them lose weight before spring break or other event. Look at Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, she's a recovered full on meth addict, and she looks just fine.

According to Wikipedia, "Tourette's is diagnosed when multiple motor tics, and at least one phonic tic, are present for more than a year", so while it's not necessarily swearing or vocalization, you've got to be doing something annoying and audible to get the classification, seems like. Still seems like a bummer.

I really hate when people I know use the "OMG I sooo have Tourette's", to excuse saying rude and inappropriate things. People with TS usually have a higher IQ than normal. I'm a member of the TSA (not the airline people) and they're always asking me for money. It's not enough that I'm donating my brain to them, they want me to pay them. I'm the one with Tourette's you pay ME!

/Only half joking.
/Had a bumfark county cop make fun of me for twitching and blinking when he pulled me over.

This. Guy I knew at work had Tourette's. He kept it amazingly under control when on the floor, but let loose in the "safety" of the bathroom. Never heard any cursing, just a lot of other things.

I cut my hand today on a graphics card. I believe the exact words used were:
"C-ck a-s motherfarking sonofab-tch"

I saw my coworker count on his fingers and put 4 tallies up on a big board. I counted about 25 tallies ..... apparently that was all this morning.

/I may have a swearing problem

Regarding the debates on whether or not Kristen Stewart can act and her performance in The Runaways, Welcome to the Rileys, Adventureland, Panic Room, Zathura, Into the Wild, etc. v. Twilight; our own ambercat has come up with the best explanation I've seen on the matter (from the "Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson may have 'accidentally' gotten married 'for real'" thread):

From what I understand of the books, she captures Bella perfectly. Basically, a non-entity with no interests, not overly bright and with no defining personal characteristics except that she is clumsy and men are super interested in her for no apparent reason. She is also totally uninterested in interacting with anyone besides Edward and Jacob. Her character exists to be something girls can project themselves on to, probably part of the reason why the series is so popular.

To be honest, I knew most people with Tourette's didn't swear compulsively, but I didn't know it had it's own name.

So, that blank stare when she acts is just her thinking "Don't say fark. Don't say fark. Don't say fark...."
