When Liberals run country for 30 years following New Deal, American economy double in size, and wages double along with it. That fair. When Conservatives run country for 30 years following Reagan, American economy double again, and wages stay flat. What happen to our share of money? All of it go to richest 1%.

This pretty much needs to be repeated over and over and over.

Oh and by the way...

Capitalism great system. We won Cold War because people behind Iron Curtain look over wall, and see how much more plentiful and delicious cookies are in West, and how we have choice of different bakeries, not just state-owned one.

I lol'd, then I golf-clapped its magnificent delivery.

Wouldn't work. Fiscal conservatives don't *care* why the 99% didn't get a share of the growth of the last 30 years. They genuinely believe that if the 1% earned it, then it's theirs to keep. Explaining this kind of "fairness" to them is like explaining calculus to a sheep. It doesn't fit in their worldview, so it's discarded.

To them, labor is a market. You get what you can demand. If you aren't in a position to demand higher wages you don't deserve them. Unless you learn to attack this knowledge in a manner they can understand you aren't going to change any minds.

Sigh why, it's a bold faced bullshiat.

1) New Deal started in 1933, in them iddle of the Great Depression. So they start counting in the middle of the worst economic disaster in US history.

2) Eisenhower was elected in 1952, so the Liberals ran the country for only 20 years after the New Deal.

3) Author leaves out completely World War 2 and the effect of being the only power not decimated on us on our economy and our position in the world

4) Democrats have run the country for 11 out of the last 31 years. Author conveniently just forgets that?

5) In that time, the economy and labor force has gone global. It's largely a complete reversal of what happened after the New Deal.

So in other words, utter partisan bullshiat.

There are lot's of things to be critical of and plenty of things that have happened in both periods to be praised. Making shiat up to sell a point though is just plain hackery.

FTA It not about rich people having more money. It about how they got money.

This is the part the right doesn't get and why they try to mock the super-rich actors or business men who support OWS, or keep posting the photoshopped image of a OWS protest with a list of item that come from large corporations in the crowd, but the mocking falls on deaf ears. OWS isn't anti-capitalist, it's anti-corruption, the right's just pissed that OWS is having a bigger impact then the teabaggers did .

As it happens, this is the part that many Democrats don't get. It is not about raising taxes on the rich for redistribution, it is about making systemic changes that allow upward mobility and normal wage gains across the board.

I bet next we can all pretend that we don't have the capacity to synthesize information and then we can take every claim and treat it as an island. That way we won't have to worry about things like context and we can just cart goal posts clear across the country to avoid placing any of the responsibility for our current economic and government strife on the perpetrators! You're right. 8 of those years were run by a Democrat, and they were one of the most prosperous years with a surplus budget at the end of those 8 years, before it was handed over to Republicans and they squandered it all on tax breaks, unpaid for prescription benefits, and two wars.

I imagine once this happens, the argument is going to turn from wages to resources. Everybody has more money, and suddenly the money is less powerful than it was before. Prices on goods will necessarily go up as demand increases, and with them the cost of living.

No need to cross that bridge yet, but it's something to think about.

Ah yes, another person who mixes up correlation with causation. The more honest, and far more complex explaination would ignore politics to focus on the many changes to society. Rampant consumerisim, worker replacement by technology, demand for increasing social services, decline in birthrates in western countries etc. etc. But hey, maybe we can solve the problem by just finding someone to blame other than ourselves. Why look for real solutions when we have such good slogans.

And thankfully we only had the second worst depression in our countries history. If they managed to have all 31 years it probably would have been the worst.

I do not understand why you defend the Republican party. They do nothing good for the country and haven't for decades. You preach hate, division, racism. It took me years to overcome the indoctrination preached to me by the church and my church going parents The Republican party embodies these traits. The sad part is the fact that most of these traits could be overlooked and maybe even forgiven if the party gave us a strong economy where people had positive outlooks. The Republican party fails miserably there also. I voted Republican in 96 and 2000. If the party continues to be the same party it has been for the last dozen years I will not vote for them again.

Your party is a fouled, broken mess. I am glad I left it.
