Except Dallas is above Detroit which makes no sense. Dallas not only has worse record but they lost to Detroit earlier on. And I say this as a Cowboys fan.

Wow, the Bills are 5-5 now? I didn't know they were doing that bad.

Also, will you lose already Green Bay? I want that #1 seed!

While I am not officially sanctioned to speak for the Packers, I don't believe they have any desire to lose.

/1-0 every week, baby.

GimpyNip: Lions should be ahead of the Texans & possibly the Bears.
Broncos should be ahead of the Jets.

Otherwise, no argumenets here.

No the Lions shouldn't. Their defense is very suspect right now.

And the Dolphins continue to stealthily sneak up in the rankings, like great orange and aqua ninjas.

My only wishes for this season are to have a record sucky enough to necessitate the firing of Sparano and Ireland (which I thought they already had accomplished, but apparently 7 straight losses just wasn't enough for Ross) and to get one more win: Over the Jets at home on the last game of the season. If that loss tips the Jests out of Wild Card contention it will be all the sweeter.

My only consolation this season is that as bad as the Jagwaggers are, the Colts this year are worse.

So the Ravens beat the Steelers twice, are undefeated in the division, control their own playoff fate, and would win the division and hold the #2 seed in the AFC if the season ended today, yet they're STILL ranked behind Rapey Ben and Co.? ESPN, c'mon man!

You misspelled packer. The "er" at the end was right, but somehow you kicked it off with "nin" when it should have been "pack"

Sure it makes sense. The rankings are based on who they think would win if the teams played again. The Lions beat the Cowboys prior to DeMarco Murray taking over. I guess you could argue that the Lions now have Kevin Smith but Smith has had one good game against a bad team. it isn't an unreasonable ranking.

Detroit also has a tougher remaining schedule.

Detroit's opponents are 39-21
GBx2
NO
MIN
OAK
SD

Dallas' are 26-34
NYGx2
MIA
TB
ARI
PHI

Well, the logic is "if these teams played now who would win". Would the Ravens win 3 in a row over the Steelers and are the Ravens a better overall team than the Steelers in other matchups?

/that said, I think ravens should be ahead of them but it isn't like there is no logic here

That's a fair point, and it's definitely worth discussing. I tend to think along the lines of "If a team beats you twice in a season, they're the better team, and they would probably beat you again." It was true in 08 when the Steelers beat the Ravens 3 times, and IMO it'd be true now. I hope they play again though, and if they do it'd likely be in Baltimore.

Swap the ravens and the steelers.

Love seeing the chefs/bolts down there. Just need the broncos to drop too.

To be fair, the Niners are probably one of the best teams for matching up against the Packers. Oh, and they only have one loss in OT.

Considering the Bears beat the ever living shiat out of the Lions less two weeks ago, in a game where Cutler barely had to complete a pass due to the pick-6 fest of Stafford and the punting the Hester, no, the Lions do not deserve to be ranked ahead of the Bears. Not even if Cade McNown was the Bears' starting QB next week.

That is a rarity. Usually the team that wins 2 in the regular season loses in the playoffs. I can't find a link on google but as a Cowboys fan I'm well aware of that after beating Giants twice in regular season only to lose to them in playoffs and have the Giants win the Superbowl.

Well, except for the last time the Cowboys made the playoffs, where they beat the Eagles twice in the regular season and then beat them in the playoffs too. The 2nd time they'd been asked to beat a division opponent 3 times to advance in the playoffs.

That's the game everyone conveniently forgets because Tony won a playoff game.

The Jake does not care for your nominations.

The Jake will not listen to your pleas.

The Jake is strict and unforgiving.

And yet The Jake is fair. It cares not for your team, your prestige, or even your position.

For The Jake only cares about one thing:

16.7 points per turnover. Race to 100. High score takes The Jake of the week.

I would have to second that nomination. I don't see anything worse. Palko put in a good effort but his completion percentage is too high. Maybe with another pick he could have bested Skelton.

According to the rankings Jay Cutler is the new Peyton Manning - 5 game win streak for the Bears, Cutler goes down and the Bears drop even though they have not lost a game yet - the toughest part of the season is behind them and when they make it to the playoffs Cutler will be back.

Can someone explain where that number (16.7) comes from? And what happens if two guys have the same number of INTs?

Even as a Raven fan, it's hard to put one's finger on this year's team. At their best they could beat any team in the league, but they're still so inconsistent. Until they can rattle off a decent winning streak, I don't really have a problem with being ranked behind Pittsburgh (or even New England if it came to it).

That said, if we win against Harbaugh the Younger Thursday night, I think the Ravens likely move into the top 3 regardless of what the Steelers/Pats do.

The Ravens should be in the bottom 5 for the rest of the season for their performance against Jacksonville alone.

I'm just not going to even bother looking for the Panthers on the list any more this season. They're going to try and win every game they play, but the franchise is in rebuilding mode and we're an ill-timed sneeze away from having to ask Dan Morgan to come back and play linebacker. Hopefully Cam uses the rest of the season to improve his reads and accuracy. It's at least fun to watch them play again.

I can't wait to see a 49ers-Packers NFC championship game.

Jake Delhomme had 6 turnovers. 1/6 is 16.7%, so each turnover is worth that much towards a Full Jake.

If two guys have the same number of INTs, then it comes down to who was more of a tremendous failure.

The full Jake is 5 INTs and 1 lost fumble...if you want a perfect Jake then you have to do it in a playoff loss on your birthday. 16.7 is the percentage of a full score for each INT/fumble lost.

The 16.7 comes from the 6 turnovers Jake Delhomme had in his playoff collapse (100/6=16.7). I believe if there are ties, you look at who was closest to a "True Jake" (5 interceptions and 1 lost fumble).

I dunno, they might be the one team the Colts could beat. Shanananananahan screaming and stomping around, Coldwell on the other side line staring off into space, Manning with his lower lip jutting out enough to land a plane on. The game wouldn't be nearly as exciting as the pics from the sidelines!
